We pray violent prayers in the time of trial, trouble and challenges, but but neglect praise. Only few sing and praise God in times of trouble; but we are expected to praise God more during these times.

In the passage, nations gathered against Judah in battle. When jehoshaphat heard this, he declared fasting and prayer in the kingdom. But as they were fasting, God spoke through a levite that the battle was his and gave them instructions to go into battle with praise and singing.

Below are some lessons we can learn from above passage

• it is a difficult thing to praise God in troubled times. The battles in your life are not yours but God's

• whenever God demands praise from you, it is because he wants to fight the battle. The battles going on in your life that you are aware of are little out of all the battles facing you.

• when we praise God, we join forces with the host of heaven. All day, everyday, the host of heaven praise the Lord.

• God arises on our behalf faster and quicker when we praise him. He is moved more when you give him quality praise and worship than when you pray.

• our enemies become God's enemies. You don't know all your enemies because some pretend to be friends. When you praise God, he will arise and his enemies (including yours) are scattered.

• Our victory is guaranteed because God is on our side when you praise him. No matter the strength of the opposition, your victory is sure when God is on your side.

• there will be mighty testimonies whenever you praise God. The testimony of judah and jehoshaphat was that they won a battle without raising a finger.

How do we praise God?

• praise him for who he is.
• praise him for what he has.
• praise him for what he can do.

What happens when we praise God?

• His presence is invoked: Ps. 16:11
• Joy is generated: Neh. 8:10
• Evil powers and principalities are weakened and chased out.
• Victory without fight is made possible.
• We have direct access to divine direction.
• Walls of obstruction are brought down, oppositions are silenced and you easily access victory.
