LOVE YOUR FAMILY

Text: Colossian 3:18-25
Aims: (i) To appreciate the biblical concept of a family
(ii) To learn the principles of Christian family bonding or living.

Introduction: A family is a group of persons related by marriage and blood ties and generally living together in the same household. Members are either to love one another or a product of a love relationship. Love is the central thing and the binding force.
However, the fall of Adam jeopardize this; hence this post will assert more on a person brought up in an ideal family.
From our junior schools we were taught the definition of family.
Who are our family? Simply put we have 2 types of family.

1. Immediate
2. Extended

Immediate family consists of: father, mother and sisters/brothers.

Extended family consists of: cousin, aunt, uncle and grandma/grandpa.

HOME OF LOVE
God is the author of love/marriage, he demonstrated what love is, when he created the first man and woman, he do visit them often, that is the extent to which he loves us.
Genesis 1: 26-30.
God wants us to appreciate him, to make a family Godly the wife needs to be submissive and husband love their wife according to God's love for us.
No matter how wicked a man is, if the wife is submissive she will definitely win back his heart.
God didn't owe us anything, he does his thing out of love for us, we owe him a lot, hence it will only benefit us to appreciate him, we appreciate men when they do good to us how much more the God who gave us life.
Ponder on this story.

A man went to a cafê with his wife, after taking some coffee the wife suddenly collapsed and was taken to the nearest hospital, she was admitted for 3days, on the 4th day the doctor told her husband that his wife is okay and can go home with him, the husband was so happy went to his wife and told him the doctor said we can go home now, his wife asked to see the bill, she started shedding tears bitterly when her husband ask, "wife are you okay?
"Am fine darling
"Why cry then, are you hurt somewhere?
"No. Am fine just that...
"Pls, tell me darling
"OK dear, we are charged this much for using oxygen just for 3days, how much more the oxygen i have received freely from God since birth?

It is important we appreciate God, the manifestation of the devil this days is making people to believe there is no God.
But NO, he is still very much alive. Don Moen in his song said:

he never sleeps, he never slumber, he's never tired of hearing our prayer, when we are weak he makes us stronger so rest in is love and cast all of your care's on him.

conclusion The decadence in our society is aggravated by ungodly and unloving families. When we raise families God's way, and teach family members the commands of God, his love will grow in their hearts for one another. Then God will be pleased and consequently rain his blessings upon both the family and the church/society.
