THE JUDGE AND THE HIGH PRIEST

Anytime there is a case in court, two people are the most important personalities who have influence on the case and that is the judge and the lawyer. The job of the lawyer is to present his case for a favourable judgement and the job of the judge is to weigh the matter presented and to give a fair judgement. This is similar in the Bible, in the Scripture God is the judge of all and gives judgement to everyone who present his case to Him.

But God is the Judge: He puts down one, And exalts another..Psalm 75:7

The judgement of God is fair and true. David had presented his case and had pleaded God to be his judge.

Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation: O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.Psalm 43:1

God unlike human is not partial or bias, who will give false judgement but He is just and his judgement is fair. If then we have a judge then who is our lawyer to present our case and to plead on our behalf?

The devil, the accuser of the brethren is always accusing the us before God

And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. Rev.12:10

Satan accused Joshua the high priest

And he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him Zechariah 3:1

Satan accused Job twice

Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. Job 1:9-11

And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life. But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face. Job 2:4-5

This is the reason why we need a lawyer to always intercede on our behalf. Our lawyer is Jesus Christ who sits at the right hand side of God.

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Rom.8:31-34

We are commanded to come before God to obtain two things: MERCY AND GRACE. God judges with these

Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Romans 4:14-16

Call on God like He told us to do in Jeremiah 33:3 Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know and talk to Him about anything and be reminded that you have someone(Jesus Christ) who is always interceding for you. With this assurance there is nothing that should stop you from going before God for help.
