STAND FIRM

in #steemchurch8 years ago

There are certain kinds of blessings and anointing that God only bestows on people that He can trust. Trust is what will make God confer His blessings on anyone He chooses to bless. We need to stand out for God if we can gain His trust. Standing out of the crowd will make God spot you for a special blessing.

God Himself spotted Job and testified bout him to satan, He said Job has distinguish himself from all and again stood still for God when the devil moved him to sin against God.

Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil? And still he holds fast to his integrity, although you incited Me against him, to destroy him without cause.” Job 2:3

There are three most important times we need to stand firm for God so He can gain our trust.

In times when no one is watching

The most important times in our life that God can absolutely trust us is doing the right things when nobody is watching us. Joseph honoured God in a moment when no one could possibly notice any sin he could have committed with Portiphar's wife. Though his master was not around and everyone else was absent at the time of the temptation yet he remembered God and committed no sin against Him. He said

“Look, my master does not know what is with me in the house, and he has committed all that he has to my hand. There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” Gen. 39:7-9

In times When your will is so strong to do evil

The will to do evil can present itself in us at any time to go against God. These are times we need to hold fast our integrity and maintain our confession for God alone. Jesus our Lord was so pressed to give up on God at the time when he was near to fulfilling his assignment but He rather chose to allowed God's will to prevail in his life than His own.

Then said he unto them, My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even unto death: tarry you here, and watch with me. And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as you will. Matthew 26:38-39

It is easy to be lured to go against God when your soul is indeed crushed. That is when there is serious desire or affection or a great burden to live up to something. Jesus had this burden in His soul, a desire to live up to his will but after praying, He had the strength to rather allow God's will to prevail over His life. We cannot do away with prayer and still stand firm at a time when there is a strong will to do evil against God.

In times when everyone is corrupt

Everybody bowed down to Nebuchadnezzar's idol but Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego decided to stood firm for God. The fact that everybody is doing something doesn't make it right, we must know the God we serve and always stand out for Him.

So at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the horn, flute, harp, and lyre, in symphony with all kinds of music, all the people, nations, and languages fell down and worshiped the gold image which King Nebuchadnezzar had set up. Therefore at that time certain Chaldean's came forward and accused the Jews. They spoke and said to King Nebuchadnezzar, “O king, live forever! You, O king, have made a decree that everyone who hears the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre, and psaltery, in symphony with all kinds of music, shall fall down and worship the gold image; 11 and whoever does not fall down and worship shall be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. There are certain Jews whom you have set over the affairs of the province of Babylon: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego; these men, O king, have not paid due regard to you. They do not serve your gods or worship the gold image which you have set up.” Daniel 3:7-12

May God give us the grace to always stand firm...AMEN

This is good.
But I have a question o, do we really need to do anything to earn God's blessings? I thought God's love for us is unconditional and his blessings for us are freely given?

God's love is unconditional but His blessings are conditional, there are things which we need to do qualify us for the blessings of God, one of the things we need to do for God's blessings is to obey His voice, hear this @kween001 :

Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. 2 And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God: Deut. 28:1-2

We will face hard times in our Christianity journey but in such times we should try not to sin against God. @collinz.
