Praying The Right Way

Prayer is a necessity for survival. It is through prayer our spirits commune with the father(God). Prayer is our source of power to win over every battle against the enemy. Prayer is so important and it is something we cannot do without as believers of God.

However praying is not as important as knowing the technicalities and rules of engagement before praying. Jesus used to pray but he never prayed with his disciples. They have observed him for sometime and noticed tremendous results manifesting daily after he had spent his night praying.

And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles; Simon, (whom he also named Peter,) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew, Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon called Zelotes, And Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, which also was the traitor. And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases; And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed. And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all. Luke 6:12-19

So many people we're healed after he had spent all night praying in the mountain. This made them realised the power of prayer and also the need to also pray for great manifestations in their ministry work with the Lord.

And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Luke 11:1-2

I love this disciple of the Lord for he requested to know about a good thing, something that will be beneficial not only for himself but for the rest of the disciples. He said "teach us" not "teach me". Prayer shouldn't be self-centered but it should focus on others as well.

The Lord realizing it was a good question taught them the right way to pray.

He said whenever you pray say "our father". Prayer is between us and God. We relate and commune with the father through prayer. Answered prayer is therefore base on our relationship with God.

How we perceive God in prayer is very important. If He is your father then it wouldn't be too difficult asking anything from Him. I have never in my entire life become afraid to ask anything from my father(earthly father). I know my biological father will grant my request and so I'm bold to ask any time I want.

The same thing applies to our heavenly father. Knowing that is he is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all that we can ask or think of gives us confidence in prayer and moves Him to also grants us any request.

Many people pray but pray amiss because they love to pray than knowing how prayer works. It is so important to understand how to pray than just pray. Don't be so interested to pray but be interested in what will move God to respond to you when you pray.

One thing that moves God to respond to your prayers quickly is how you perceive Him when you pray. Is He your Boss, Master, Father, Friend or what?. God is a caring and a loving father who loves me more than my earthly father.. that's how I see God.

He knows my name, He hears my thought and whisperings and sees each tear that falls from my ears and He will come quickly ones I call... that how I see God.

Some folks see God to be mean and difficult and takes more time before granting request and as a result they hardly get what they ask for in prayer. Their perception of God hinders their prayer answers from coming true.

Friends, God is not just our God but our father from whom we all came from. He cares, loves, is available and ready to answer when we call for when there is a man to pray there is also a God to answer.

From today your perception about God should be different from the ordinary folk who see God to be far from our reach.
