Our Final Destination

Wrewere not created by God to live on earth on forever. The earth is not our permanent abode as some people see it to be. We are just passing through. God made heaven to be our final destination. Jesus gave assurance to us about this:

Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know. John 14:1-4

The reason Jesus had to leave for heaven was to prepare a place where we will be spending eternity. God wants us to join Him and live with Him in heaven. One of these days we will all die for the bible says it is appointed for man to die.
This means nobody can live on earth forever. You can live longer than Methuselah but you will still die, this is because the earth was not made to be your permanent dwelling place.

You shouldn't be deceived, for everything on earth does not last forever neither does it accompany anyone when he dies. Everything on earth goes through depreciation and deterioration with time. There is nothing here that a man should build his trust in for they are temporal. Just like we came empty on earth empty shall we go when we die.

The sad thing that happens to man is dying and leaving all his hard earned money, cars, mansions and all other investment on earth. It very unwise for people to spend all their time building treasures on earth and not consider building treasures in heaven which is their real home.

Jesus was never concerned about building anything for himself whiles he was living on earth. This is not say that you shouldn't acquire properties for yourself or you shouldn't accept any material blessings that God gives you rather you shouldn't put your whole trust in them.

Why build your whole life around earthly treasures when you will soon leave them behind?

Jesus in one his teachings about the kingdom of God showed us the right place to invest:

“Stop storing up treasures for yourselves on earth, where moths and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But keep on storing up treasures for yourselves in heaven, where moths and rust do not destroy and where thieves do not break in and steal, because where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Mathew 6:19-21

He said, on earth, moths and rust can penetrate in the properties and render them useless, thieves can also break in to steal. The devil is a thief and can come in at anytime and take possession of whatever you have acquired for yourself. Apart from this, natural disasters can easily destroy any physical wealth you have acquired.

He said the best place to invest our time and energy in storing up treasures is heaven. We should be heavenly-minded people. All our focus, our thoughts, our time, our energy, our resources should be focused on heaven and not on earth. We shouldn't be too concerned and focus too much on the flashy cars, new clothings, beautiful mansions, and all the material wealth we see around. We may lose focus and miss our final destination which is heaven. He says for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.. Mathew 6:21. Your heart is definitely going to be in heaven ones you are working on storing up treasured there.

And the world passes away, and the lust thereof: but he that does the will of God abides forever. 1 John 2:17

Always remember this: Heaven is for those who does the will of God.
