CORRECTING YOUR CLOSE ONES
'Correction' is not something we are always comfortable with. As it might bring back memories or sometimes make one feel bad. It is better we enrich and strengthen a relationship than risk damaging it. Most people react defensively when we correct them. But it will stun them to realise you care more about them than their immediate response. When we are correcting someone, we should not do it from a 'we know what is the best' or 'self righteous' point of view ,but from a loving heart.
If others sense you are really concerned about them and the relationship you both have, they will have a rethink of your correction. Even Nathan who was a prophet in the bible summoned courage in confronting David over his sin with Bathsheba, this was because he loved David too much to let sin rob him of his destiny.
God uses us in each other's lives to restore us to the narrow and rich paths of destiny. So it is never a bad idea to correct a friend so long it is from a caring and loving spirit. We all need someone to tell us the truth because other people have vision 2020 where we have blind spots.
Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.(AKJV Proverbs 27:6)
