The Roman army officer approaches Jesus when he enters Capernaum, telling him that his servant was paralyzed and violently tormented. Jesus sympathizes with that soldier and promptly tells him to go to his house and give health to the servant. Jesus is always willing to hear and intervene in our lives when we turn to Him with a submissive heart, believing that He will do exactly as He says in His Word.

The officer does not judge himself worthy of Jesus entering his house. He recognized in Jesus a spiritual authority, because he already had enough information about him. He had heard about miracles, teachings and his reputation. Something important that we see here is the perfect understanding of the exercise of authority. The word authority comes from the Greek - exousia - in its literal sense it means: "to be outside" - which expresses a transferred power, a delegated power, an idea of control, of command. In short, it can be said that it is not something inherent to the person himself but that he is conferred.

The centurion went to Jesus. He did not try to resolve that situation for his own reason or ability. He identified such a situation as spiritual. He asks Jesus to just release an order, a healing command for his servant, knowing that the word released by Jesus would have the healing and liberating effect. And, he adds that they had soldiers under his command and under his orders and when he told a soldier to do something or go somewhere, he did exactly as he was ordered. We learned with that Roman officer that: "Only those who are under authority exercise authority."

Jesus praises that man's faith (Matthew 8.10). Jesus then says to him: "Go, and as it grows it will be done to you". Today, my dear brother, Jesus is releasing his Word and saying: "Behold, I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will go into his house and with him I will dine, and he with me" (Revelation) 3.20). Jesus wants to enter into his life, forgive his sins and confer eternal life and, even, change his life story. Give you spiritual life that brings as a consequence a life of quality in its existence.

He tells us: "... I have come that they may have life and carry with abundance" (John 10.10b). Confessing Him as His Lord and Savior, as the Apostle Paul warns us, when he says: "If, with your mouth, you confess the Lord Jesus and in your heart you believe that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. it is believed for justice and with the mouth confession is made for salvation "(Romans 10.9, 10).
