Steemchurch - Lot and his family

Lot lived with his uncle Abrahan in the land of Canaan. The two were accumulating so many animals that there was not enough space for everyone. Therefore, Abrahan told Lot: We can no longer live in the same place. Please, choose which side you want to go to, and I'll go to the other. Is not it true that Abrahan was very good?

Gn.13: 10 And Lot lifted up his eyes, and saw all the plain of the Jordan, which was all watered, as the garden of the LORD, as the land of Egypt in the direction of Zoar, before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah 11 Then Lot chose for himself all the plain of the Jordan; and Lot went eastward, and they turned away from each other

Lot saw that there was a part of the earth that was very beautiful, it had a lot of water and green grass. So he chose that place and went with his family to live there, near a neighboring city Gomorrah was very bad. They were so bad that JEHOVA decided to destroy those two cities. But God wanted to save Lot and his family, so he sent two angels to tell them: Quick! Get out of this city! JEHOVA will destroy it!

But Lot did not leave immediately, but he was late. So the angels took them by the hand of him, his wife and his two daughters, and they ran them out of the city. They told them: if they look back they will die. When they reached the city of Zoar, JEHOVAH caused fire and brimstone to rain down in Sodom and Gomorrah. Those two cities were completely destroyed. Lot's wife disobeyed JEHOVAH, looked back and became a statue of salt. But Lot and his daughters were saved by being obedient.

Surely they were very sad because Lot's wife had disobeyed, but they were also reassured that they had obeyed JEHOVAH.

Sodom and Gomorrah is recorded in Genesis chapters 18-19. Genesis chapter 18 records the Lord and two angels who came to speak with Abraham. The Lord informed Abraham that "the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is increased more and more, and their sin has become exceedingly grievous" (Genesis 18:20). Verses 22-33 record Abraham's plea for the Lord to have mercy on Sodom and Gomorrah since Lot the nephew of Abraham, along with his family, lived in Sodom.

Those who try to explain the biblical condemnation of homosexuality affirm that the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah was the lack of hospitality. The men of Sodom and Gomorrah were certainly not hospitable. There is probably nothing more cruel than a homosexual group rape. But to say that God completely destroyed the two cities and all their inhabitants for not having been hospitable is obviously wrong. While Sodom and Gomorrah were guilty of many other horrible sins, homosexuality was the reason why God poured burning sulfur on the cities, destroying them totally as well as all their inhabitants. To this day, the area where the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were located, remains a desolate land. Sodom and Gomorrah are a tremendous example of how God feels about sin in general, and specifically about homosexuality.
