2 In the desert the whole community grumbled against Moses and Aaron.
3 The Israelites said to them, “If only we had died by the Lord’s hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death.”
Exodus 16:2-3 New International Version (NIV)

The children of Israel started complaining about everything the LORD has done for them. At a stage, nothing seems right. They picked offense at everything and preferred to go Eygpt. The children of Israel forgot easily the goodness of God in their lives. They were crying because of food. They lost trust in God because they wanted their stomach filled. Anytime, things were going so well, they sang praises to God, but whenever things went the other way round, they complained and blamed everything on Moses. The truth is, what they were complaining of was not worthwhile. They were more concerned about what their body wants and how it will benefit them.

Oftentimes, we waste our time and energy on things that are not worth dying for. Instead of dying and losing trust in God because of physical hunger we should rather die for spiritual hunger. For the most part of our lives, God has been the great provider. He has shown us love, grace, and mercy, but whenever we face a little challenge we forget how far that same God has brought us. We forget everything He has done in the past and begins to complain like the children of Israel. The physical hunger has nothing, but temporal benefits which will only last for a while.

For most Christians, it is now that matters to them. "I want to have it now and every other thing can come later" For most of us, it is okay to satisfy the flesh and have fun, and serve God later. People look for Jesus not because of he is the Son of man and Savior, but only for what they will get from him at the moment. It's all about the immediate benefits of finding Christ. All these things are good, but not good enough reason to seek God's face. It is simply setting your priority wrong. During church service, today, a young man who sat next to me chatted all through the service. He came to church with his phone and used it most of the time. The question is what is your priority? Some people come to church with their phones, they facebook,
snapchat, chat, and do all manner of things. I am not here to judge anyone, but the question remains, what is your priority?

Priority is when you treat something as more important than others. The whole essence of our existence on earth is solely to serve God. This is our priority. Everything we do here on earth should be all about God. This world is not our home, we are all passersby. We are sent here on assignment. God should be all that matters. We have to set our priorities right so it is not all about what the immediate benefits of our service to God. It is not all about feeding the flesh.

41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things,
42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one.[a] Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Luke 10:41-42 New International Version (NIV)

Mary chose the right path. It was all about the word of God. Her priorities were set right. Seeking Jesus is all that matters. We can be busy for God, but guilty. It is not all about how frequent we go seek the face of God, but the question is what are our intentions. Some of us go to church in order to escape from the troubles at home. We use it as a place to hang out for some hours not because we want to worship and appreciate Him and have a genuine fellowship with him. For most Christians, it's all about how beautiful the church is, the altar and the sound system. Most Christians find it hard to worship in churches they consider local, but just like I asked earlier, what is your priority. I used to worship in a place where we set up canopy every Sunday. One day, after Sunday service a friend of mine called and wanted to hang out. I was still in the church so I told her to come to my parish then we can go to my house from there. When she came to my parish, she asked me why I chose to worship in a place like that when I can worship in churches in town with beautiful decor. Now, the question is, Isn't God everywhere?

So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Matthew 6:31-34 New International Version (NIV)

Our first priority is to seek the kingdom of God. Loving him no matter what the challenges are. The children of Israel had it all good but complained whenever they faced a little challenge. They hurriedly forget all the goodness of the LORD. Yes, I know planning is good, but when we become afraid of what tomorrow will bring it shows lack of trust in God. The fact that we are passing through challenges right now does not mean we should change our priorities, it doesn't mean God has not been faithful these past years. Our priority on earth should be centered on how to serve God and serve Him to the fullest. It is not all about us or how to solve our challenges.

In Conclusion,

I know we all need certain things to make life worth living such as money, shelter, and food. We work hard to achieve all these in life in order to have a comfortable life on earth, but why make most of these things our priorities when God can provide all of them if we seek Him and make Him our priority. I pray that God will give each and every one of us the grace to seek Him diligently.
