The alpha and the omega

The greatest wealth that the human being can have is to know the Lord Jesus
"I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty." Revelation 1.8
The expression "the Beginning and the End", which does not appear in the original Greek, but whose content confers with the meaning, was added to this verse by some translators, considering that the less educated people might not understand the meaning of "the Alpha and Omega.
The expression appears again in chapters 21 and 22: "He said to me: Everything is done, I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I, who is thirsty, will give grace from the source of the water of life "(Revelation 21.6); "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End" (Revelation 22.13).
This revelation that the Lord Jesus Christ is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, is the simplest way to define someone who exceeds all understanding. He encloses indescribable, indefinable perfection, deeper than infinity.
To know personally the Lord Jesus Christ consists in the greatest glory of the human being. Many are the people who know him by information from others, and when they come to tribulations, they do not know how to get out of them, because the knowledge acquired about him is not enough to save them.
Knowledge of Him comes through the revelation of His own Spirit, and this becomes sufficient to make the person gather strength and face any adverse situation. And that is precisely what the apostle John seeks to move us.
It is the greatest wealth, the greatest glory, the greatest strength; in short, the best of everything that can happen with the human being: to know the Lord Jesus! It is as He affirms through the prophet Jeremiah:
"Thus saith the Lord: Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither the strong in his strength, nor the rich in his riches, but he that boasts, boast in this: in knowing me and knowing that I am the Lord and I do mercy, judgment and justice on earth, because I like these things, says the Lord. "Jeremiah 9.23,24
When the apostle John, referring to the Lord Jesus Christ, wrote "I am the Alpha and Omega, says the Lord God, who was and who is to come, the Almighty" (Revelation 1.8), was not referring to the child born of a virgin, in Bethlehem of Judea, no.
John was talking about the Lord Jesus Christ, God! What was before Mary and all the beings existing in the Heavens and on Earth! The Lord Jesus already existed before all things, because everything was created through Him and for Him, as the Apostle Paul says:
"This is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation, because in him all things have been created, in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, sovereignty, principality or power. Everything was created through him and for him.
He is before all things. In it, everything subsists. He is the head of the body, of the church. He is the principle, the firstborn from the dead, for in all things to have the primacy, because it has been agreed to God that, in him, all the fullness resided and that, having made peace through the blood of his cross, half of him, to reconcile with himself all things, both on earth, in heaven. "Colossians 1.15-20
Good concept of alpha and omega:
From the earliest beginnings of Christianity, the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet were used to affirm the divinity of Jesus Christ. The letters were also used by the early Christians as a monogram for the name of Jesus and were used to symbolically represent Jesus in art.
