The ants are wise and we can learn from them. Book of Proverbs, in verses 6 to 8, which say: Look at the ant, lazy, watch its ways and be wise. She, without a captain, governor or lord, prepares her food in the summer, picks up her livelihood at harvest time. We can say in passing that the ants collect and store the grain. That is what they do in many parts of the world and also in Palestine. Surely we have seen on occasion a small ant carry a greater burden than the ant itself. They store food during those brief sunny days of the harvest. The ant is, then, an example of wisdom for us as we prepare for the future in material things.

Now, some people think that Christians should not be prepared to meet their material needs for the future, because they should trust in the Lord. . But we believe that if the Lord has provided us with means to meet future needs (and we are all familiar with the savings and pension plans) we should take advantage of them to prevent future needs of our own and our family. This is what the ant teaches us, making sure for its future by storing food at the time of harvest.

But here we have an even deeper message. There are many people who do not make any arrangements for after death, or some manage their arrangements in advance with a society or funeral home for the day of death. But when talking about the preparations for after death, we refer to eternity. We are in this life only for a few fleeting moments of time, but then the endless epoch of eternity will come. Is it not foolish to worry about the physical body and neglect the soul, neglecting all preparation for eternity?

It is said that when the Emperor of Rome, Hadrian, was on his deathbed, he made the following statement: "There will be no more crown for this head, there will be no more beauty for these eyes, there will be no more music for these ears, no more food for this stomach of mine, but my soul, oh, my soul, what will happen to you? " And the Word of God tells us in Hebrews 9:27: It is established for men to die once, and after this the judgment. You can live only for this life, to enjoy the food, drink and the joys of this life, because in the future death awaits us. A person can devote all his time to increase his wealth and possessions, but God tells us that we must be prepared to present ourselves before Him.
