STEEMCHURCH: spiritual purity

Habakkuk 1:13
Very clean {are your eyes to see evil, and you can not contemplate oppression. Why do you look with pleasure on those who proceed perfidiously, shut up when the wicked swallow the one who is more just than him?

God is holy, and does not approve of evil. As he can not do evil to himself, so he is too pure eyes to look with any approval. By this principle we must abide, though the dispensations of his providence may, for a time, in some cases, seem to us to disagree with him. The prophet complains that God's patience was abused; and because the sentence against these bad works and the workers is not executed later, their hearts were more in them willing to do evil. Some take it as with the angle, one by one; others take in banks, as in their network, and gather in their entrainment, their network is contained. They admire their own ingenuity and artifice: there is a great propensity in us to bring the glory of exterior prosperity to ourselves. This is idolizing ourselves, sacrificing to the drag net, because it is ours.
