DISTANCE IN RELATIONSHIPs!

I noticed that the one thing or let me say the fastest thing that kills a relationship is distance. Distance is a big barrier to having a wonderful relationship. Many relationships that should have led to something real were ended up and affected by distance.

The last relationship I was in was affected majorly by distance, the moment distance came in as a result of change in location, things were no longer as it was as when we were close and still seeing each other. It is something that happens spontaneously not willfully; once distance comes into any relationship it is hard for that relationship to remain as it was; the one thing that is lost is trust.

Trust is a very important tool in a relationship and once broken it becomes very hard to amend and regain. Distance makes you think it isn’t the same person you left you are going back to meet and that comes with fear; fear to be perfect and acceptable.

I know some couples that do not want to be far away from each other, they try to avoid what might end up not being good for the both of them after the promises made to be there for each other. Now there is obviously love between these couples but they can’t just cope with their spouse being far away from them.

Now this point doesn’t mean that you can’t be away from your spouse for some time or do some other things that is beneficial and this is where good communication skills comes in; but that will be a topic for another day.

I never believe that distance is a barrier in a long lasting relationship, I thought if there was love between the couple they wouldn’t allow anything especially distance come between them. But I was proven wrong when I was a victim of distance relationship. Like I said I do not believe distance can affect a love-filled relationship where both parties know what they want; so it definitely did not come from my side, I guess my partner lost trust in me and it affected our relationship greatly.

Distance affects our relationship with GOD! You know many people are so concerned about trying to make their paradise here on earth, I am an advocate of a healthy relationship but some of us are not concerned about the gap in our relationship with GOD. The distance between we and GOD is as large as the Atlantic Ocean and yet many people neglect it.

The same way most of us are hurt about our distance relationship is the same way GOD is hurt about the distance between us. He wants absolutely no gap between us and him. Once there is distance between your relationship with GOD things become different, there is doubt about if you are still perfect for Him. A lot of things are lost and the communication signal dies completely.

That’s why as Christians we should watch and pray because anything can bring about distance. Loss of attention, you lose focus on the real thing and give less attention to GOD, you are already building distance gradually. I guess I need to explain this that “distance in relationships” doesn’t necessarily mean being far away geographical wise that was a common example to explain the term. Distance is as a result of lack proper communication between the couple or between two persons. If we allow distance creep into our relationship we will see ourselves explaining how we ended up “single”.

I know sometimes weakness makes us get distant from GOD, the truth is GOD searches our heart and nothing can change the Bible scripture
