I just published a booking page for this on eventbrite - if you're in the UK, I hope you can join us on 7th April. Share it about, people!

The Steem blockchain and its associated applications (Steemit, dTube, dSound etc) are shaking up both the social media and the cryptocurrency worlds.

For most of its users it's a blogger's paradise - a magic internet money machine that rewards you handsomely for making new media and for curating the best material.

SteemCampUK will be the first, participant-driven, unconference about the Steem Blockchain looking at the most important issues for existing users of the system and people interested in finding out more.

An unconference is a decentralized version of a conference. The agenda for SteemCampUK will be decided by the people who turn up on the day, led through a well-tested process by Lloyd Davis (@lloyddavis).

We expect there to be a mix of people who've been around for a year or more as well as newer users and people who haven't signed up yet at all. Everyone is welcome. The only qualification is an interest in using and improving some part of the Steem ecosystem.

We'll meet together at the beginning of the day to decide what subjects we're going to work on and talk about. You might have a project that you'd like to share with others and have a fancy presentation to show it off, or you might just have a question that you want people's input on. There will be plenty of space to get to know each other and work on what's important to you, whether that's a highly technical discussion of incentivization in a decentralized economy or just an opportunity to get to meet face to face people that you've got to know online.

SteemCampUK will be as self-supporting as possible, that means we'll pay our way, but we won't take big sponsorship from anyone that might compromise our independence and ability to speak freely. That means that there will be a ticket price, but it will be payable in STEEM or SBD as well as £ Sterling. The main costs will be the hire of the venue and the provision of refreshments. All the costs will be shared transparently and if there is any surplus we will have a democratic process for spending it.

Venue is still To Be Confirmed but it will be somewhere in Birmingham.

This is great!! Glad to see these starting up.

I'd love for you to do one in Brighton in the future. I would probably be able to get a lot of musicians along as I have invited many to Steemit who are members of my website.

I would be happy to do a talk about how the block chain is going to revolutionise the music industry. I have already started to do this in a video series, including an episode on dsound.

This is all so very exciting!!

Very happy to help with something in Brighton, lots of good crypto people there :) I'm also involved with Imogen Heap's mycelia project, have you seen that?

That would be fantastic!

I have heard about Mycelia and did check it out but didn't see that it was open to the public so I didn't really delve any further.

A friend of mine uses The Brunswick in Hove for a music networking event called "Riff Taff Music Networking" and I think it is either free or very reasonable.

I'll be there on the 5th March so if you know anyone who is in the area we could meet up and discuss it further?

Can't do 5th March, I'm afraid, but I'm intending to pop down sometime in the next few weeks to see friends. I've made a note to let you know when I'm coming :)

OK that sounds great. Will you be down for a few days as I can meet up for lunch mid-week if you like?

Add dsound & Musicoin tracks and get more plays!

changing the face of social media one step at a time. Every success with your initiative mate :-)

Yes indeed! You are right with that @nathen007.. Initiative is really important.

Sounds great I will definitely try to make it 👍

Wow really nice intiative!! Too bad its too far away from me :( I hope it will be a big success!

no copyright on the idea :) you could do SteemCampSE!

Sounds very interesting.

What time will it finish? I am wondering if I can get back to Wales in time for my radio show at 9pm.

I'm thinking 5.30 so you should be alright depending on which bit of Wales you're in :)

I'm a bit south of Aberystwyth. Don't think I would make it by train, but might just make it by car - c 3.5 hours if I leave a tad early.

Will the event be in the centre of Birmingham or on the outskirts?

It'll be as central as possible, I'm in conversation with a venue in Digbeth and one in Bournville. Will let you know. It'll be a shame if you had to leave too early, but you won't be the only one with far to go, that's the difficulty of doing a national event.

Perhaps when the details are set in stone, people could do a car share post perhaps ?

Think I've got the timing sorted, so really hoping to come along.

When I go to the Eventbrite link it says 'Need an invitation? Contact Organiser'.

Do I need a special link or code from you to sign up?

OK, sorry, it shouldn't work like that, I must have set it up wrong, I'll have a look.

Really glad you'll be able to make it :)

oh maaaan, I would love to come but that is going to be such a crazy week for me, Im almost certain I cant make it. Well done though Lloyd, I hope it goes really well!

basil babes, what a shame! There'll be more (unless it turns into an absolute shit show and we end up all killing each other) I'm plotting a bit of an East Anglian walkabout in the spring anyway so I might just turn up on your doorstep.

(I won't actually just turn up on your doorstep, I don't even know your address)

you are always welcome on my doorstep Lloyd! (You just won't be allowed in the house is all! haha) It would be an absolute pleasure to see you on an Eastern Waltz, I may even join you for a stroll ;)

that's OK, i'll just make myself comfy behind the bins...

I was waiting for the announcement for a long time. Hopefully I will be here on the second edition.

will miss you, but yes there's sure to be more of this kind of thing!

Wow
Sound really good.

Venue is still To Be Confirmed but it will be somewhere in Birmingham.
Why not in London ? :(

Birmingham is central!

Well, it's not too difficult to get to from London, better for the rest of the country and easier to organise, especially for the first one. If this goes well we'll try it out in London.

I really hope gonzo gets his visa so that we can come. x

I really hope so too, I'd love to see you both

I appreciate yoiur efforts. And wish you all the best. Hope I would able to join this. But I am far far away. Sir will you upload video on DTube?

Of course, i expect there'll be lots on DTube and people writing reports too.

Thanks in Advance sir.
