When I was an English teacher in Cambodia, I used to do a weekly fill-in-the-blank comic-strip contest for my ESL students. It was an instant hit with the students and provided me with endless laughs. I gave each student the same comic strip with the text removed.
Below is a "Calvin and Hobbes" by Bill Watterson blank example comic-strip from an actual contest that my Cambodian students participated in.
I figured this one would be nice and easy for my ESL studentsI had my students fill out the comic strips using pencils, and whoever the winners were from each class would have their comic strips typed and placed on the school bulletin board for all to see until being replaced by the following week's winners.
Below is a Calvin and Hobbes" winner from one of my 4 English classes I had at the time.
Not bad for my beginner class 🥇👍 I got lots of laughs from it 🤣

- #1 - DOWNLOAD the .jpeg comic strip for STEEM COMIC STRIP CONTEST #1
- #2 - Use Microsoft Publisher, Paint or any other program with text boxes to overlay your text onto the comic strip.
- #3 - Make sure your text and font are of a legible size, and don't overcrowd the text boxes.
- #4 - Only add your text, don't alter any illustrations.
- #5 - Remember to be creative and original. It doesn't necessarily have to be funny.
- #6 - You don't have to be politically correct. This is STEEM♨️, we are free, and I have a good sense of humor.
- #7 - Make sure your main tag is #steemcomic

Justin, this is a clever idea. However in the original paper you cited, it's a plagiarization of Calvin and Hobbes by Federal International School. I know this is common in Asia, but my suggestion would be in the best case cite the original cartoon article, or at the very least cite Bill Watterson, the creator of Calvin and Hobbes, as the original author.
Noted......that should be easy enough. I’ll pop into the Editor and make a few small changes. You need only say the name of that school a few times before you begin wondering about the “Federal” and “International” parts of the name. Cambodian school directors don’t take advice easily, and therefore I had a friend who worked at “Future Bright School,” the Director refusing to accept that, in English, we place the adjective before the noun.

It was tough enough coming up with one good one... I think you should change the contest to allow filling only one of the 3 in. And then allow up to 3 entries.
I know that you would get more people and better entries if you made it easier.
@richatvns did the same with Memeday that's why he gets more people then @fibra59's Meme Challenge....

I've decide to go along with the participants ideas, much better. Thanks for the feedback. I do hope to grow this in time and make the rewards bigger as long as the participants enjoy it and I get some good laughs. That's what matters most. Thanks for your submission.

Very nice & creative @airfarce! I am sorry for confusion about the comic strip panel, you need to fill out the whole page, all 3 panels. Either way so far you’re the only entry, so the competition is thin. If this contest goes well, I’ll up the rewards for next time. You should be able to make an edit to your existing post.
Scratch that @airfarce, I like your idea better and everyone else seems to be on board. Would you like for future contests to have a choice of three different panels like this one? Well, it might be that only Calvin and Hobbes has a convenient three-panel split, other comic strips might not. I like the way things are already going, so let's just keep it this way.
