Kind of an odd choice - the novel by Jim Thompson is really good. I'd guess some people might be put off by the violence in the film, but compared to the source material I'd say it is actually less psychologically disturbing. Anyway, I'll nominate Atlas Shrugged (1 and 2!) - for being even more tedious than Rand's book.
