Automatic upvoting and automatic reward claiming using SteemAuto
Nowadays I have mostly done manual curation, but 2 days ago (on 2019.09.30) I set automatic upvoting and automatic reward claiming on SteemAuto, because I don't always have the time for the Steem blockchain to manually curate, and I don't like to waste my voting power. This does NOT mean that I will not do manual curation anymore. I just do it much less manual curation than so far.
The current top three curation trails are @curie, @cryptoctopus and @steemauto. The first curation trail currently (2019.10.02, 06:20 CEST) has 2534 followers, the second has 2172, the third has 1613. By their description, the goal of these curation trails are the following:
Curie is a community project that discovers and rewards exceptional content, Cryptoctopus Working on maximizing curation rewards. SteemAuto's is Upvoting @steemauto posts and steemauto supporting.
I started to follow @curie. because I would like to reward authors. My focus is to support others, and not to maximize my own curation rewards. I believe if I focus on supporting others, then I am doing good for the whole Steem blockchain on the long term. People should support each other, and should not focus mainly on their own rewards. Then the whole Steem blockchain would be a better place. I am glad that most of the curation trail followers are also like to reward (exceptional) content.
I have not followed and I am currently not following any downvote trails. And I am currently not planning to follow any downvote trails in the future either.
My current curation (upvote) trail settings for @curie:
- Voting weight: 50% (this is the default setting).
- Voting method: Fixed (the default is scale voting weight).
- Time to wait before voting: 0 minutes (this is the default setting). This means that if @curie upvotes something, then I will also upvote it immediately.
At first I left the upvoting method on scale voting weight, but I shortly realized that it is a bad idea, if you have low amount of Steem Power. Scale voting method means, if @curies upvotes something with 6%, then I upvote it with 3%, but my 3% upvote is currently meaningless (worthless).
My 100% upvote is worth around $0.008 and $0.01 USD. So, as you can see, currently even my 100% upvote is close to meaningless/worthless. If I would like to give something ($0.001), then I need to cast at least about a 9% or 10% upvote.
The Fixed voting method (with the 50% voting weight setting) means that I will upvote everything with 50%, no matter what percentage is used by @curie. The fixed voting method is good for small Steem accounts, like mine. My 50% upvote currently gives about $0.003 or $0.004. If you are a redfish/plankton or a minnow, then I recommend using the fixed voting method. I currently (2019.10.02, 06:50 CEST) have 690.506 Steem Power.
My current Upvote Mana threshold: 80% (the default is 70%). I set it to 80%, because our voting mana recharges 20% every day, and I also give slightly better upvotes, if my voting power is close to 80%.
The automatic reward claiming is done by SteemAuto every 2 hours.
Yay!
