Sorghum is one of the best foods we normally consume in Yoruba land. It is known as guinea corn or oka baba among the southwestern part of Nigeria. It is very rich in nutrients, which is why our elderly people consume pap made of guinea corn early in the morning before they eat their breakfast. They believe that it helps them fight malaria symptoms, and once you drink it, it will pass out through pee. It is commonly found in Africa and Nigeria precisely due to the health benefits it provides to our bodies.

Studies have found that it contains protein and fiber, which help us maintain our weight as well as reduce the cholesterol level in humans.

The vitamins in sorghum contribute positively to our health and support boosting our immune system. Guinea corn can be paired with moi moi, and the taste is amazing for individuals who love it.

Local farmers venture into these farm products in order to earn maximum profit. It's a tall grass that is usually planted around June. Although we are in the rainy season and many farmers have not started the planting process. Instead, they plant other varieties of different crops like beans, corn, and sweet potatoes. I think it's the last crop that farmers use to round up the year. The seeds of the plant come in different colors such as brown or white depend on the choice of consumers.

Additionally, some individual plant it only for their family consumption in such way that everyone would benefit from the nutrients. Animals also feed on it such as goat, ram or sheep and cow which show that nothing waste from the guinea corn plant.

I recommend guinea corn for everyone and it would be better if we consume it with milk and sugar so that we can enjoy ourselves through out the day.

Move closer to the farmers in your locality they will guide you about how you can apply for FADAMA project so that they can support your journey in the agricultural process. In this time of raining season some politician can likely distribute hybrid maize, fertilizer and others farm tools to the farmers in order to boost food production in the state or country at large.
