In this rainy season, many farmers will begin to plant different species of potatoes so that they can use the money generated to support their family after harvest. Potatoes are starchy vegetables that have health and nutritional benefits. Vitamins, fiber, and minerals in potatoes help us prevent diseases. They are common in Nigeria because they are staple foods that can be boiled or fried with quality groundnut oil to enjoy their good taste. Farmers from my side place bags full of potatoes to one side so that those who want to buy them can meet them at a junction.
Here are the health benefits of potatoes for those who like to consume them, although they are annual crops that normally grow during the rainy season:
Potatoes help our bodies build strong bones through iron, calcium, and other nutrients that promote our general well-being.
Eating potatoes enables our heart to function properly because they contain fiber that helps an individual to lower their cholesterol level. Studies also find out that potato intake prevents our skin from damage from the sun. I love eating potatoes, especially if I eat them with stew and fish. Believe me, you will enjoy the taste and the aroma. These types of food improve our overall health as well as support our immunity by reducing the cold a human being may experience. Lastly, it aids food digestion in the body as well as prevents constipation from happening.
