Death Stranding is an action game set in a post-apocalyptic world with fantastic elements. It takes place in open maps, although it moves away from many of the trends that we find in other market sandboxes, and in them we have a mission: to reconnect cities and a fragmented society. "Strand" is translated by threads or filaments, and it is also the verb varar, two ideas with which the logo plays, the connection with the baby or the scenes of whales on the beach. One of the main themes is to create ties with other characters or players - its multiplayer function.

In the history of the game, Death Stranding is the name of the events that have transformed the world we know to this version with supernatural elements, horror and science fiction. The most visible effect is the entry of entities from another world that are somehow tied to ours. They can be the human bodies that float like shadows or the invisible creatures that leave their mark on the ground. Basically, the catastrophe caused by some quantum experiment has crossed the dimension of the living with the dead - the past - also called Hades.

Death Stranding is still surrounded by mystery and there are many pieces of the puzzle that still need to fit, and not only in the narrative. Although I have clear the general lines of the gameplay, we need to know details of this online component or the usefulness of firearms; I know that they will be able to level up and use different types of ammunition - I have seen it briefly in the last trailer - but not how nor the type of experience or resources needed to improve the equipment.

Death Stranding goes on sale on November 8 on PlayStation 4 and promises to be the most personal and risky game of Hideo Kojima in decades. One thing is certain: it will not leave anyone indifferent.
