Flag-A-Whale: Deterring Junk Post Reward Manipulation!

There are a lot of hardworking content creators on Steem that are not receiving fair rewards due to others manipulating or trying to game the system. A lot of people just want to produce quality and thoughtful content and receive fair rewards. The current ecosystem makes a fair reward distribution challenging.

What can we do about it?

A lot of phenomenal work has been done to expose the practices of reward manipulation, voting rings and abuse on the platform which is essential to the community, so that members may be informed and are able to take action on the platform with their voice(vote). We must be aware of the devices of exploitation and find ways to deincentivize and deter them.

Sometimes, that is not enough and more must be done.

Flag-A-Whale is envisioned to be a communal flag account. Stakeholders in Flag-A-Whale will receive the privilege of using the pool of voting power to fight junk posts that are overvalued due to blatant or coersive manipulation. It doesn't matter how little SP you have to give. Your right to the voting power will increase eventually reserving a 100% weight flag for maximum effect.

The Flag-A-Whale Communal Flag Account Web Console

Delegators will be granted access to a web console to be developed where they will receive the "keys to drive the car". Right now, we want to get the word on the flag underground. To the voices of dissent that have had enough of junk posts receiving extravagant rewards.

Together, we will be the change on the Blockchain and malicious members will think twice about pushing trash to the top. If we want Steem to truly grow, we need the best of the best on Trending. If we all do our part, we can make it happen.

I get where you're coming from and you've got my upvote for your effort, but the method you're suggesting here is like swimming against the stream.

It is the reward distribution formula that is causing the abuse on Steemit. You can't overcome abuse on Steemit without changing that formula first.

By the way, it's not only the whales that abuse the system. Minnows aren't that innocent either. Self-voting has an insane ROI for any level of investment.

The solution is to get rid of the reward pool altogether and let people tip the posts with their own money. They will choose which post to tip and how much.

I explained the details of this system in the post How to Solve the Reward Pool Abuse Problem Once and For All and we are discussing with other Steemians about the implications of such a system change at this moment. So, you're welcome to join the discussion.

Flagged this to help you stay humble.

Bonus idea, and about time.

I'll definitely be following progress on this.
