‎‎Describe one memorable experience you have had with a neighbour. Was the experience positive or negative?

‎One memorable experience I had with a neighbour was with a man who lived beside our house. In my area, greeting people and getting no response was very common, so I was already used to people ignoring each other. But this particular neighbour was different.
‎Every time he saw me, he greeted me warmly and even stretched out his hand for a handshake. At first, I was really surprised because it felt unusual to receive that kind of kindness from someone older. His actions made me think deeply about how simple respect and friendliness can affect people.
‎The experience was very positive because it changed the way I treated others. After that, I started greeting people more often, both young and old, with humility and respect. I realized that small acts of kindness can leave a lasting impression on someone’s life.

What lesson did you learn from that experience?

‎The major lesson I learned was humility. My neighbour showed humility in a very natural and genuine way. He did not act proud or distant even though he was older than me.
‎From him, I learned that being humble does not reduce a person’s value. Instead, it makes people feel comfortable, respected, and connected to one another. I also learned that one good attitude can inspire others to become better people.

What qualities make a good neighbour in your opinion?

‎In my opinion, a good neighbour should be understanding, humble, and generous. A good neighbour should know how to relate peacefully with others and be willing to help when necessary.
‎Respect is also important because neighbours live close to each other and interact often. Someone who greets others warmly, checks on people during difficult times, and avoids unnecessary conflict can make the environment peaceful and welcoming.

Do you think neighbours are that important? Explain.

‎Yes, I believe neighbours are very important. Some people think neighbours are no longer necessary because of technology and social media. They believe people can stay indoors, use the internet, and still feel connected to the world.
‎However, I think real human presence matters a lot. Without neighbours, life can become lonely and stressful. The little conversations, greetings, laughter, and even the normal sounds from nearby homes can make a person feel alive and connected.
‎Neighbours can also help during emergencies, give emotional support, or simply distract someone from worries and anxiety. Seeing familiar faces around you creates a sense of belonging and peace. That is why I believe good neighbours are an important part of every community.

I enjoyed reading your post because it shows how something as simple as a greeting can make a lasting impact. It's true that in some places people hardly greet each other anymore, so having a neighbour who always welcomed you warmly and even offered a handshake must have felt different.

I also like that you didn't just appreciate his kindness but allowed it to change your own attitude towards others. That is one thing I always admire—when someone inspires us to become a better person through their actions rather than just their words.

Your point about neighbours still being important despite technology also stood out to me. Social media can connect us online, but it can never replace the comfort of having caring people living close by who can help during emergencies or simply brighten your day with a friendly greeting. Thanks for sharing this beautiful experience. It reminds us that kindness often starts with the smallest gestures. 🌹
