New school versus old school parenting.

Hello everyone, Welcome to my blog. I am excited to participate in this informative and entertaining contest organized by @okere-blessing in the Steem4Nigeria community. A parent is the first teacher in a child's life because it is their prayers for such a child to become a successful person.

There's this saying that goes like this Spare the rod and spoil the child , Do you think is still valid in this new school parenting?

Some parents in this new era still punish their child if they do something wrong, and such discipline would serve as a correction so that the child can become a better person in the near future. It's still valid because parents who love their child are the ones who caution them to always do good and avoid evil, as it would lead them to the negative side of life.

If a child commits an offense and the parents leave him unpunished, the child may become useless, and in some cases, he may continue to wrong himself to the extent that, if their parents are not careful, may tarnish the image of their parents. I know some parents who are strict with their child by monitoring their movement and the kind of friends they associate with.

Do you think Old school parents were too strict compared to new school parenting?

Yes, old school parents are the best in terms of correcting a child's mistakes. They are very strict in disciplining their children and they try as much as possible to ensure that the children obey the rules and regulations of the house. Another thing is that they are principled parents who do not tolerate nonsense. Whenever the children see them, they are afraid of them because they know the type of person they are.

They are intelligent people who use body language to communicate or correct their child when they commit an offense. Old school parents also make every effort to ensure that children are useful to themselves and their family. Old school parents are more effective in disciplining a child than today's parents who do not have time to correct their children's mistakes.

which one were you raised ? Do you think you were raised right .

I was raised by old-school parents, and I can say that I was raised well. I stayed with my grandfather a lot. He used to scold and beat me anytime I did something wrong. At that time, I felt bad because I was very young, and I also used to sleep early at night around 8:00 p.m.; he would have closed the door while other children were outside playing with one another.

Anytime I came home late at night, he would beat the hell out of me. But later, I realized that he was doing something good for me, and I consider it as the love he had for me. In fact, the way he brought me up assisted me so much because when it's 7:30 p.m. or 8:00 p.m., you would not see me outside at night; I was always inside at that time. I use this opportunity to appreciate all his efforts towards making me a good child.

Do you think we should go back to old school parenting or stick to new school parenting.

We should go back to the old-school parenting way. We can see that in those days, children would listen to their parents without saying anything until the father or mother would finish what they about to say. Nowadays, everything has changed where some parents do not discipline their children. In fact, they can also encourage them to continue with that bad behavior.

We have seen cases where parents whose son is engaged in internet fraud will also go to alfas or pastors to pray for them in these illegal activities they are involved in, instead of cautioning their son that this way they are going can lead them astray. I strongly believe that if we use the old method of how grandparents discipline a child, their lives will be meaningful and they will also live a life of righteousness.

Conclusion

Parents must give their children the best education they can give them, but this firstly starts in our various homes. Let them know the do's and don'ts within the society so that their lives can change positively.

The old school has some pros and cons, but beating the hell out of a child is not discipline; there are other ways to discipline a child without enforcing it on the child. I know it's from a place of love, but most of us lived with childhood drama.

Sometimes a child may be stubborn beating them with cane can reset their brain to be in a normal position. Sometimes if you gently handling a child from correcting their mistake without creating fear in their mind and if care is not taken such child may see wrong thing they are doing as the right one. Thanks you so much for reading my post
