How interesting the things become when price of SBD suddenly moves up over 3.5 times in a matter of moments? That’s what happened yesterday.

It was about midnight here and I was about to call off my day. My eyes were on SBD prices as they were continually falling down vis-à-vis Steem. So, before closing my browser window, my eyes rolled over to the price of the SBD being displayed in my Steem Toolbar browser extension and I was taken aback with a 257% hike in SBD rates to about $10.27.

I was like, “Oh what the heck, I just used my SBDs in a bidbot!” but thought I should make good of whatever is left with me and immediately logged into Bittrex.

Logging Into Bittrex is Quite a Hassle

I generally don’t login to Bittrex exchange as it seems to be a long procedure to me. First I need to put in my username and password and if it’s correct, the site asks me to insert Google Authentication code (Go, find where the heck is my mobile!). After inserting this code, there is yet another step of clicking the login button. In other exchanges like Binance or Kucoin, it happens automatically as soon as the code is inserted in the text box. No further clicks are required.

But after completing these steps, you need to perform many more steps. Now Bittrex will email you a verification link. So now I need to login to my email account, find out the this email and click the link in it to verify my credentials to Bittrex. Now I expect the site to allow me to login. But wait, it doesn’t. Now Bittrex asks to repeat all the steps from inserting password to keying in Google Authentication code. So finally, when I get to see my account, it looks like some achievement to me.

What happened to SBD?

It took me about 5 minutes to login to my account on Bittrex. I was skeptical that this momentary rate hike wouldn’t sustain long and by the time I login, it will fall down. And that’s what I found when I checked the price on Bittrex. But to my surprise, the prices never reached to this level here. I checked back my browser extension and it was still showing a figure over $10.

Now I got a little suspicious and opened Busy but this site too confirmed the SBD rates to be over USD 10. So now I went on a treasure hunt and checked all exchanges from Poloniex to Upbit. I kept refreshing CoinMarketCap and exchange pages along with Busy page again and again but couldn’t find this elusive rate anywhere. Although I was feeling too sleepy, this mystery kept me engaged for another hour. I wasn’t willing to give up.

Finally, I approached @fabien to throw some light on this issue and he pointed me to this link:

This confirmation put me at ease and I could finally sleep 😉

When I woke up this morning, I found people still wondering about the SBD rates shown on Busy platform. So to make it more clear, I’d like to repeat:

My last night’s efforts of verifying SBD prices didn’t go in vein. I actually stumbled upon a very valuable information which I wasn’t aware of so far. And that is:

Steem is Available in Indian Crypto-exchange Now

Yup! How could it be that I wasn’t aware of this important development? In fact, I was waiting for this news for a long time now. In India, we had no option to buy Steem directly with INR. In the midst of all the negative news of bans on crypto-exchanges in India, I discovered that one of the crypto-exchanges is offering Steem/INR pair too. The name of the exchange is BuyUcoin. However volume is too small at present but it’s already over $18,000 daily. And this is bound to rise higher and higher.

As I told you, I was too sleepy by the time I discovered this fact, I didn’t researched more on it. I’ll collect and share more information on it some other day or you too can do it at your end as you know the exchange now 😊
