The hardest thing about Steemit is trying to explain it to some people.
I mostly get, " how do you spend it?" "Who takes it?" And "it's not real money!".
I feel like I'm trying to get someone to an Amway meeting.
I guess if everybody understood it, we would see 50,000 sign ups a day. Off course now a days, people don't have the patience to stay at a job for 3 years much less learn a monetary platform that only takes creating quality content daily and taking the time to seek out quality content to upvote.
People are too busy taking selfies. Steem is my future freedom. I have embraced this!
LOL Taking selfies will be profitable when Appics gets going...then they can get paid to take selfies.
As for the other stuff, I know where you are coming from @wonderwop. I get that also. Unfortunately, it isnt up to you to teach them about cryptocurrencies...
Just ask them if they know how their car runs (make sure they arent mechanics first). When they say they dont know, say, see you still drive. Just go comment, upvote, and post and dont worry about it...
And yes when there are 50K signing up a day, the cat will be out of the bag by then...and it will be quickly moving past the early adopter stage.
