RE: Thoughts on earnings and delegations out

in #steem6 years ago

I saw a post yesterday that said "Because I need $$$$"

That earned the poster more than one that took two days for me to make and post.

I don't care if it is idle Steem working ("good for the platform" according to the people who run the bots), it still should not be allowed because it is providing a steady injection of disincentive for people who actually try to create things others will find interesting.

Any time a system allows you to get something for nothing, the game is rigged to allow cheating and the honest players are not going to win.

Retention of actual users is obviously less important to the platform than retention of non-creative investment. Buying votes is still buying votes.

it still should not be allowed because it is providing a steady injection of disincentive for people who actually try to create things others will find interesting.

Unfortunately, it can't be stopped with current tools and also unfortunately, most people don't seem to care about creating anything in this world, just having the funds to consume.

The incentives on the platform aren't aligned for social engagement but what can be expected of a social platform created solely by programmers? The social side has to come from the community side.

It's obvious that the rules for the "game" were compiled by experienced gamers who knew how to set criteria that would trigger addictive behavior in users to keep them engaged as part of the interactive equation.

Once that is clear to users, they can select their own path to either do something worthwhile or to play the arcade game for the flashing lights.
