I thought comments would go down, but I still get a lot. I also thought I would have to stop voting on comments, but my top level posts are earning more now, so I find I can still keep voting on comments and sometimes the conversations that develop in the comment section are far more interesting than my post.
I am also trying to get back to commenting more on authors that are still building an audience.

I have been voting on comments on other people's blogs more than my own. I do core to bring some good discussions to the top though.
Commenting in general is such an important part of building an audience, including answering in a somewhat timely fashion. Follow up is a part of customer service.
