Imagine... Steem's Future

in #steem6 years ago (edited)

  • Imagine that we have a short form site, for those quick thoughts and sharing links.  Zappl
  • Imagine we have a site for serious bloggers. (I don't think we have this yet)
  • Imagine we have a site for verified news articles. (steemnews.online)
  • Imagine we have a site for those who live in a gift economy to reward each other with gifts (not yet)
  • Imagine we have a site for up and coming Authors
  • Imagine a site for vloggers - dtube
  • Imagine live streaming - dlive
  • Music and audio - maybe even by genre.. dsound
  • Imagine a site for dank memes - dMania
  • Imagine a site for wankers - dporn
  • Imagine Gambling
  • Imagine Love Matches
  • Imagine Shark Tanks
  • Imagine Travel Reservations with Crypto
  • Imagine Professional Services...
  • Imagine A site for HomeSteaders and Preppers
  • Imagine a site for Technical Analysys and Crypto talk
  • Imagine several bidding, selling and peer2peer group markets

Imagine we could all access those sites using our Steem Logins and pick and choose the type of content we wish to consume.  We can reward what we want to see more of.

Imagine each of these communities/sites could create an SMT and and use it to reward their end-users.  They can make up their own community rules, moderation rules, and even limit access to their group.

Imagine that when they purchase steem to fund their site/community it locks up Steem.

Imagine SteemIt just being a dumping ground that all of that pumps into.. The firehose as some like to call it.

Imagine having choices and things we haven't even thought of yet.

Some of this is already happening

That is how I see the future of Steem.

Maybe I have a great imagination, or maybe something like that and more will develop.

@whatsup

Imagine..

Sort:

You have very good imagination ...if these app developed on steem then it will attract more users and it will be more addictive. I think app developers should see your post.. who know they get million dollar idea from this post.

When imagining Steem like you do here I find myself torn in the conflict between hopeful expectations and disillusioned reality.

Shouldn't Communities and SMTSs already be here, deployed and in action?

Imagine every small bizness accepts steem . . . . . . crypto zero fee paradise

Ha ha, I like it

love this one!

lol @ site for wankers. Honestly, it all sounds good and although some it is in existence already, there is much work to be done to make it so well rounded. It can be done. Afterall, we are a work in process. Great imagination!

I lol for real when I read about the wanker community...needs and gifts being pulled along with crypto... yeah, it's been too long and now I have you @tamaralovelace and @whatsup on the same thread...Iife couldn't be better. ;)

Oh muh friend :D Life is good!

So glad to hear it! I was just thinking about you the other day and wondering how you were...

lol - I can't contain my snark. Believe it or not I try! :)

It is a work in progress. :)

Oh let that snark flag fly..it's what makes things interesting.

oh yeah..a work in progress lmao (not process)

You're a visionary my friend.

However, steem needs to fix it's flaws such as over concentration of STEEM in a few hands. Otherwise those same people will be able to have overwhelming power on any steem supported site.

It will be interesting to see if we can run a steem type sight on Cardano when it's smart contract layer is up and running later this year

I agree that the current wealth distribution is a problem. In fact, in my eyes, it is the biggest issue we have.

If the price keep plummeting maybe others will buy in.

We can't expect people to come and bail out a flawed system with their cash, can we?

What's the point of advertising it as a "proof of brain" blockchain in that case?

Unless this is fixed, I can see something like BAT moving up and past STEEM

I don't expect anyone to bail anyone out. I think steem is still viable, just limited and there will be a point in which the price advantages outweigh the disadvantage.

Each community will be able to invest in their own distribution model. What I am imagining is exactly the reason this will matter less and less. DPOS is how the witnesses will be selected and some exchange of Steem, but most of the action will be happening on each platform according to their own rules, funding and guidelines.

Maybe I misread, but if each SMT is supported by STEEM then those whales will be able to enter any successful ecosystem and dominate.

However if the SMT is totally independent, like ERC20 tokens on ETH then I can see it working

I don't have the technical details. I was imagining. lol. Time will tell. I am pretty certain none of our whales are going to hand out their steem for free.

At least some of the platforms and the voting bots are allowing people to use other means besides votes to build their stake. Time will tell.

Well if enough minnows want it, we could just split off from the whales at the next fork. Who knows, the idea might gain more traction when more new users bump into some whales and realise what's going on

lol, if they do I wish them luck. Of course getting funding to make it matter could be a challenge. One never knows.

I have every confidence that these things are developing as I type this comment to you. Great to catch a post of yours @whatsup!

I wish we had the short form already!

This still feels like version 1.3 to me and we are on the cusp pf 2.0 with the groups, incented private messaging? Business accounts? SMTs? on the way.

There are a couple links in your post I didn't even know of yet.

Anyhow, so far so good. Now back to shilling on facebook for people looking to get paid for their content.

An ecosystem, that's what it all is!

I love steemit!

Hello, we are all in this community to make it grow, let's hope so. we invest our time and we know people. Good post. It is nice to imagine good things. Thank you. regards
