RE: Why Is STEEM Guaranteed To Totally Disrupt Social Media?

in #steem7 years ago

To me this is exactly like the beginning of the FLOSS movement.
People scoffed at Linux. Microsoft tried at every opportunity to halt OSS development.
The Microsoft fanboys launched flame wars. They called Linux junk.

"It doesn't even have a workable gui."

How many awesome guis are available for Linux now? And they make windows look like it was created in paint by numbers.

The same will happen with this blockchain revolution.

One thing is key. We need to evangelize.
People need to know there are fanatics out there about something called "blockchain technology".

The banksters will try to stop it.
Those who trust in the old system will point to high transaction fees in btc and say, "See, it's not even usable, I told you this blockchain thing was all B.S."
I don't care.
The revolution is real.
BlockChain is my Alamo.

We need to do all we can to get the word out and get as many people involved in blockchain as possible.

While I agree about linux, it is still not a commonly used platform compared to windows....most of the masses arent even aware of linux.

You have a point in that blockchain will be bigger than linux ever was.
In truth though linux is everywhere. People at the plant I work at use it via ssh without even knowing it. The interface to the production software is just a shell on a linux box.

I think for many people the same will be true for blockchain in the future. It will be all around them but they won't know. Beyond "electronic money" they won't understand much about it and won't care. Most people just want to buy heir coffee.

Oh I agree with that...they will simply be using the app like on there. Other than us writing blockchain all over the place, is there anything that tells people on Steemit or dtube they are on blockchain?

People just use it.

Right. And that is a big part of the goal.
Make things that are functional and seem simple. When people start seeing the guts of things like this they get intimidated.
That is one reason Linux has had such a slow adoption rate. For years only hobbyist would mess with it because all the guts were on display.
