10SP giveaway update (including participant list) + why I haven’t answered many comments lately
I’m starting this post out with a little blogging, because I feel like I owe you guys an explanation as to why I haven’t upvoted and answered most comments I have received lately. I made a promise to upvote and answer all good comments that were written in the comment section below my posts, and the last 5 days I have been unable to answer and upvote most of them.
Anyway, the reason is that my internet have been extremely troublesome lately, and it has been broken more than it has been working, and I get an error in 90%+ of the cases when I attempt to comment or upvote. So even upvoting 5 comments takes a long time!
I hope the internet will be fixed in the next few days, but we’ll see how that turns out. I guess that’s the downside to living in rural parts of Norway where there is only one internet provider to choose from. In the mean time I have to do a lot of my blogging from a tablet, so it is far from ideal. I might not even be able to finish today’s science post, so please don’t be mad if you don’t get your daily fix of biology! There are many other skilled authors here on Steemit, and I suggest that you check out the #steemstem tag if you want to find other science authors here.
Contest update
For those of you that don’t know, I have an active contest going on, and the winner can win 10 Steem Power. All you need to do is to promote Steem with an external link, so it’s really easy to enter, and should only take you a minute or so.
There is not much to say except for the fact that I will be selecting a winner once the payout for the post has been reached, so you still have a few days left to enter. Below is a list of all participant, and I would like to ask everyone to check that you are on it, because I am only a human, so I can make errors and forget to add entries.

Bad network coverage could really be frustrating atimes. I can imagine how annoying it is because i do have my own fair share of it over here too.
Here in Nigeria, the internet service is a quite scarce commodity and it's very expensive to make matters worse.

Yeah, it can be extremely annoying. Especially when I'm in the middle of researching something and suddenly it has stopped working!
I can only imagine how that must be like. It's very unfortunate that the internet is so expensive, because it is a really useful resource. Hopefully you guys who are on Steemit are able to pay for it a little bit easier :)

It is for sure a great trade-off. You might get good internet in the city, but there are so many other great advantages to living in a rural area that more than makes up for it :)
These contests are usually fun. It is a good way to give back to the Steemit community.
One thing I was wondering, do comments count for anything as far as rewards or making posts more popular? As far as I know comments on a post don’t really count for anything...but they are good for getting discussions going on your posts.

No, comments do not really "do anything", but they have value to me since they often provide me with alternative opinions, additional information based on unique experiences that my readers have, or get good discussions going. I really love the social aspect of the Steem blockchain, so that might be why I value comments that highly. There have been several times where I have written about a cool biology phenomenon and a reader actually chimes in with some firsthand experience of the animal or plant that I write about, which is really cool.

Does your cell phone internet work? You might be able to share your cell phone data connection.
Yes, but I only have like 100MB on it :P
I don't normally use it at all, so I never bothered to get a plan with internet included.
I get 2gb with my plan and sometimes I can go through that even though I normally have pretty decent wifi. I get unlimited slow speed data though. I think I could run this site off of my slow data if I had to but hopefully I never have to. That would really suck not having decent internet but at least you get to enjoy the beautiful scenery and peace and quiet.
Ah, that sounds nice. Unlimited free slow data must be very great; here in Norway we start getting charged extra per extra used megabyte once we reach over the included limit!
But yeah, I'm enjoying the peace and quite here. It's really nice winter weather, and I have a lot more time to get stuff done around the house (such as mowing snow of the roof) than when I have internet, so I guess it is good for something :P
At least you get free healthcare. lol Phone service used to be a lot more expensive but it's gotten pretty cheap. My phone bill is only about $20 a month. :)
Be careful! If you do fall off the roof at least there will be snow to cushion your fall. lol I never have to push snow off my roof although we do get a decent amount of snow here in Michigan.
Hehe, yeah, it's very nice with free healthcare, but it's not really free considering the fact that we pay a lot of taxes here. Probably a bit higher than you pay in the US, but I'm not sure.
It's actually the first winter I have had to do it, but it just kept snowing all winter long, so now it had reached 50-60cm on the roof, which felt a bit unsafe to me! Most times it melts away before it gets this much.
I dunno. I bet your free healthcare is cheaper than our free military. lol
That is quite a bit of snow. My roof has a pretty good slope to it and I think my house is pretty sturdy so I don't think I'll ever have to go up on the roof. I bet you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle. lol

I have to say that my internet is not that bad for the most part, so I should not really be complaining so loudly. But it feels bad when I can't browse Steemit for a few days :(
Delete the cache from your system may be this can help you out. I was also facing problem few days ago i did the same and it worked.
That's a good suggestion, but I have talked to my internet provider, and there is a problem on their end due to the huge amount of snow we got in my region right now, which have apparently broken some things. But thanks for the suggestion anyway ;)
