Dan resigning might result in stormy times. If you are after a calm and safe boring place this might not be the right platform. If you like challenges, work and party hard - believe in something - now it is time to prove, stay, invest, write, engage and help!
WE all should stick together and help our Captain @Ned now - sure there are great things in place already. It is sad Dan is leaving - he built the ship - massive thanks for that.
Let us all help we survive the storm - I am confident we have a Strong Captain!
Let us all be a strong and committed crew! Let us work together to overcome storm, ice and other hurdles.

Perhaps it's better to just take a different boat. Ned seems too afraid of competition to stick to principles.

It's not a rumour. @sneak deleted @dan's proposal to fully open source Steem on GitHub.

He also appears to have deleted comments, he's very pro free speech like that.
Dan also specifically said it was @ned and @sneak blocking it.

Dan left Bitshares one year ago, and Bitshares has been just fine. There is no central leader anymore, so it's actually decentralised. And it works! Bitshares has kept making progress. Actually things have become very stable, which is good for many reasons. The same will happen with Steem(it). There will likely be less changes, and people will learn how things work. People like stability.

Indeed... people like stability. I appreciate this comment... perhaps as a broader commentary on the possibility that Dan simply may not be a long term guy.
A lot of visionaries have great ideas, create and implement them.... and then move on to the next great idea. They are just not interested (or get bored?) with the ongoing daily grind and politics of daily running of a company...

People leaving leaving from management is a usual process these days, in normal business and crypto / blockchain probably even faster so 2 years in one place might be enough if you are not founder and CEO - I like your style!
