RE: Test Secret Steem Advantage

in #steem6 years ago

I certainly don't know enough about this to really understand what is planned. It does seem to be a straightforward enough concept just based on the words alone. Being able to delegate bandwidth as a resource is something that could be helpful to the ecosystem.

Some users have more than they can reasonably use, some don't have enough. Delegating bandwidth to a pool would be a good way to make use of a resource that otherwise would be wasted. Possible benefits could be to new users who want to participate more than their initial bandwidth can support, and particularly to high volume applications in an SMT world.

Seems like a sensible idea.

Like I said, I don't really know, but I'd love to know more about it. I also don't know why just a hashtag, but possibly a way to spark a discussion and get people posting about it?

Exciting times!

How would it even work to delegate bandwidth?
Internet bandwidth? Or is this something else?

To my understanding, bandwidth is something of a rationing mechanism to prevent prolific spamming. Every time you commit something to the blockchain, it uses up a bit of your bandwidth allocation. Bandwidth recharges, so you can come back later and comment or post or vote if you happen to run out. Having delegation of bandwidth could also presumably discourage abuse, since the delegator could remove the "juice" if some app or some person went off and did bad things. For whatever your definition of bad is.

Thanks so if I didn't post much I could "delegate" that and get something? How much though? Based on much Steam Power surely? Or everyones account would have the same value and people would create loads of new accounts?

Ding ding!!

For a few other things too... such as account creation. #only-on-steem

That rocks @ned! I'm really looking forward to the coming changes to make onboarding new users simpler. It will be a great thing for the ecosystem when that's a friction free process. Steem has solved a couple of monumental usability problems already, between crypto wallet management and transaction fees that turn broad classes of users off. When account creation "just works", we're going to see great things. Keep trucking, you guys/gals are doing a great thing.

Ned, any chance of getting the Devs to work on improving the Steemit user interface, thus making the platform more user friendly, possibly by adding clickable icons to other Steem related areas, such as DTube, Dlive, DSound, etc. These could be easily added to the left or right blank spaces on the mainpage, as could scrolls on recent liked posts, etc. I love the platform, just would like to see some colorful improvements that might help make it overall more accessible and user friendly for the general public, therefore perpetuating growth of the platform. Wondering if that is possible and if you guys have any future plans regarding such? Kind regards.
