Tech Education: Tips and Tricks for Steem and Steemit Maximization!

in #steem6 years ago (edited)

In this article I'd like to go over a few things that might help make your Steem journey to becoming a dolphin or whale easier. I can't say all of these tips will be the only thing you need to find success on Steem but they certainly won't hurt! I'll cover tagging / support groups and a few other topics that might help you find your way!

Need some ideas for articles that get a lot of attention?

Tags are very important when creating content. I'm a firm believer that we should write about what we are interested in, what we love and things we feel are beneficial to others.

Why do tags matter?

Tags can bring your content more attention and increase their visibility in the overall network. Furthermore, Steemit has a way to see which tags are the most active and generate the most revenue at any given time.

How do I check the most active tags on Steemit?

To check this:

1.) click on the menu (the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner of the screen)
2.) hit 'Explore'

Here you will see a breakdown of the major tags that are in use. In addition, you will also see total replies and payouts for each tag.

This can be a very good way to align your writing ambitions with a topic that is highly in demand, or choose the right tags for your recent article. More importantly you can see what is making money now!

Here is a list of topics that normal bring a lot of attention and normally go hand in hand with high payouts:

marijuana
crypto-news
bitshares

anarchism

Are you a Steemit minnow looking to build your network of followers?

Sometimes it can feel frustrating to write amazing posts, share wonderful photos or contribute your works of art only to find that nobody really seems interested in what you bring to the table.

Everybody needs help sometimes but some people just don't know where to find it. There are wonderful people here that would be happy to support you if you are considerate and make thoughtful contributions.

Introducing MinnowSupportGroup (PAL)

The MinnowSupport group was created to help give new Steemit members the ability to network and build amazing personal relationships on Steemit in an effort to bring much needed attention to their contributions.

There are so many amazing posts that go unseen everyday by wonderful members of the community and this seems to be one of the biggest problems Steemit faces at the moment.

The MinnowSupport (PAL) group provides many advantages for minnows. For example, there's an amazing writer's workshop community there in which you can get feedback for writing. There are post promotion rooms where you can submit your work to be seen by other members.

Finally, there is a general chat room where you can connect and build personal relationships with other Steemit users that are firmly committed to providing a supportive environment for kind and considerate writers.

The MinnowSupport community gathers at the Peace, Abundance, and Liberty (PALnet)

Discord channel: https://discord.gg/HYj4yvw

You can join this movement simply by clicking the link above.

You can also learn more about the community at the official Steemit page here: https://steemit.com/@minnowsupport

What about Whaleshares?

Whaleshares is both a token and another community that works together with MinnowSupport (PAL) to provide support for independent writers and minnows.

It was created by a fellow Steemit member called @officialfuzzy and the main idea is that the WhaleShares token can be used by holders and exchanged for 'Whale voting power.' If you have an amazing post that nobody has access to you could potentially use this power to upvote it and potentially gain more exposure for it.

The community has a discord channel as well which you can join here: https://discord.gg/6Zr7XAX

It's another amazing community with very motivated and positive minded Steemit members. I've found both the MinnowSupport group and Whaleshares group to be extremely valuable and I've found the people in both of these groups to be very professional and supportive.

Need help making your Steemit posts more visually appealing?

Let me present two websites that will make your life a whole lot easier if your mission is to create attractive graphics to accompany your own Steemit articles!

Start by finding the right images for your project.

1. Pexels

Pexels (http://www.pexels.com) is a free stock image website offering professional photos on almost every topic imaginable.

Even though this service is free, if you use them a lot, it's always nice to reach out to the photographers who have contributed these images and let them know that you appreciate them. With an unlimited supply of royalty free photos you are half way to creating your own custom graphics for Steemit posts / articles and your website.

Add text and graphical elements to create a stunning custom made graphic.

2. Canva

Canva (https://www.canva.com/) is an online graphic design service that is completely free of charge. You can use it to create all sorts of custom graphics and it even works with your own custom images. For people who aren't good at using Photoshop or alternatives this is the perfect solution. It's extremely easy to use and will only take you a few minutes to create amazing visual graphics that will really spice up your projects.

The following are examples of graphic design work I've done using the combination of these two sites:

Using the combination of Pexels and Canva the possibilities are endless. If you want to take your articles on Steemit to the next level, presenting them in a way that is appealing is going to help you get the attention you deserve.

For help using this software just reach out and contact me and I'll be happy to give you advice on how to get started. However, most people will find it's extremely easy to create graphics using this approach and probably won't need my help.

Now go make some nice graphics for your posts!

Techblogger Final Statement

I hope these ideas help you make some improvements to what you are doing on Steem. I know for a fact that it is difficult to start out and there is so much information out there that it can be extremely overwhelming! Just take it one step at a time and I'm sure you will be on the road to success. Someone told me that being successful simply meant that you have a well defined goal and that you work towards it everyday! If its really that easy, we all can do it without breaking a sweat.
