Steemit In Bloomberg: Starting To Near The Mainstream

It does indeed appear that STEEM is garnering a bit more attention.

Yesterday, there was an article on Bloomberg Technology that talked about Steemit and the potential it has.

While the numbers are a bit off, the main theme is accurate.

Steemit basically is the result of organic growth. There is very little advertising that is done to promote this blockchain. While we all were not happy about the communication from the developers, the fact that they are hard at work creating the upgrades we continually discuss is a positive.

And the community is starting to garner some attention.

Bloomberg is one of the bigger sites for financial/business news. Having an article focused around what is going on here is of great help.

The article talks about one of our Colombian members who use to post on Facebook yet is now on here. He made $2K in the month of January from STEEM. What is interesting is that he mentioned that going back on Facebook or Twitter like entering the "Stone Age".

Another thing that got my attention is that the article called it the "Financial Internet". Basically, it compared the Facebook model which generated $41B in revenues last year to STEEM's where the "money goes in the other direction". Basically, this is a term to describe the idea of paying people for their interaction.

"If you build it, he will come."

This line is from the film "Field of Dreams". To alter it slightly, if you build it, they will come....

We are getting to the point where people are starting to take notice. The new model is starting to garner attention. It is one thing to appear on a site like Medium. However, when this blockchain starts to appear on sites like Bloomberg, the mainstream is not too far away.

In my following of technology, it seems the cycle is as follows....

Science sites....technology sites.....financial sites.....business sites.....mainstream sites....

As you can see, this blockchain is one step away from entering mainstream consciousness.

Things are lining up very nicely.

“I feel like I’m in the Stone Age when I’m on Facebook or Twitter,” Kadavy said. “They have no value without what you’re contributing to them. If Facebook doesn’t respond to this, things can change very quickly. They should be very concerned.”

Yep. That pretty much sums things up!

Super exciting!

It's amazing to think that in a months time there may be some serious talks about STEEM on the News.
I wonder how the media is going to handle the blockchain news. When the internet was first announced, was it trickled into the media? Or was it not until big names started to utilize the web?

It feels like people will hop onto blockchain technologies very quickly. Nobody likes to miss out.

Nice post. Quick, to the point, insightful.

Yes and no. Besides Steem there are only a few blockchain apps usable for regular people.
Big companies are sniffing at blockchain out of curiousity but they are waiting that even bigger companies are going to use it. In their eyes the blockchain is only mature enough if the monster companies start using and promoting it.

Very good point.

One of the co founders of ethereum says this in the article: "These decentralized systems are just not made to grow and scale for the masses yet" ... perhaps he is referring to the projects he works on?

Because steem is certainly capable of scaling.

LOL Yes I believe he is.

ETH is having issues with cryptokitties....so yeah scaling is the biggest problem for that blockchain.

As I mentioned in another post, even if they get to the 1,200 T/sec, it still will pale in comparison to STEEM.

That's awesome! Seeing Steemit and this blockchain being talked about on bigger websites. Mainstream is definitely not too far away. It's just a matter of time until we see all of them coming in! The potential is too great to be missed out.

I didnt look...does Bloomberg allow comments on their articles...

If so, perhaps they will be interesting in the Bloomberg token on the STEEM blockchain.

Nope, I don't seem to find any places to comment on Bloomberg...

Then they should open that up along with a token on the STEEM blockchain.

See..two problems solved.

Would be great if they actually did that!

It seems like STEEM is becoming hard to ignore right now - lots of positive developments building on an already working platform. There aren't many blockchains out there with such a good user-case with plenty more to come down the pipeline...

STEEM has the advantage in that it is at the head of the class in terms of real world applications being used today. It is not a theory or an idea or a project that we hope comes about.

It is being used by tens of thousands of people a day. For this reason, it is hard not to notice when looking at this industry.

That is why 2018 will be huge...there are more people joining, more applications being created, and problems being solved.

Couldn't agree more !

So we could expect a new wave of new Steemians, which is needed. According to the post @penguinpablo te last 7 days all had less then 1000 subscribers.
Fresh blood is needed to win the war against some voting bots.
So it is good that major sites are paying attention to Steem and the SMTs which are coming.

I think the problem for the low sign ups is not the people signing up, they are. It is the sign up process that is slowed.

The developers announced they created a new system to start automating the task and that it will take a few weeks to start to see a difference.

The people are there, just not getting approved.

I do understand that there are problems with the signup proces and that they are fixing it. Still we have seen weeks with much bigger amount of new subscribers when the signup proces was identical to now, so I don’t feel it all can be blamed on the signup process.
Hopefully it is retailored pretty fast cause new blood is the lifeline of Steemit! But we agree on most parts. I just like to play the devils advocate.
I mentioned in my last post. You should devote an article on steem and censorship, mine was triggered by the recent censorship in China and if Steem would be allowed there. Cause I appreciate you I would really want to now your viewpoint behind it.

Super awesome news
Steem keeps getting popularity and international recognition from prestigious body by the day.
In summary, Steem is the answer to developing countries problem of unemployment
God bless you @ned and Steem crew

Damn It! The news is super exciting!
Thank you @taskmaster4450 for sharing the news!
Would have never come across the news if it weren't for you, and you deserve the vote.

When I think about Facebook, Twitter etc, I can only see money hungry corporate giants preying on the normal people's data! But Steemit is just the opposite of that, which is the reason why I started to Steem. I quitted Facebook 4 years ago and my profile stays dormant over there!

As STEEM as a blockchain and a cryptocurrency gains popularity and goes mainstream, it is pretty clear that Steem do possess a genuine threat to the likes of such MNCs.
Steemit is just amazing! The community is amazing! No words! I am happy that I found this out without being too late!
Once again, thank you @taskmaster4450 for sharing the articles!
Looking forward to many more of your awesome articles 🙂

Steemit is the future of blockchain that we have been waiting for. Most a times when I compared the number of years that I've spent using Facebook social media with the short period I spent in steemit I just keep wondering what life could be without this community. Steemit is loaded with many opportunities that one can explore from. Steemit is really making wave and am happy to be part of this revolution.

It's amazing to think that in a months time there may be some serious talks about STEEM on the News.

This new financial Internet is still in its infancy. It pays users a total of $3.5 million, but within two years, users could be paid $50 million a year

Something hugely disruptive is happening, it's already underway and we are in for a real treat it seems.

If these predictions turn out to be right, my hunch is that they will still be off by a huge margin. New technology takes time to get started but once it gets going, it expands beyond anything anyone estimates for.

Think about electricity, motor cars, internet, mobile phone. Nobody ever contemplated how big they would eventually become, sure they knew those were huge breakthroughs but the estimates for mass adoption were always far less than what actually happened.
