RE: What keeps you at Steem?

Not many places out there yet are there? there may be some better to earn on but that will provide a new set of issues for those platforms too. No matter what they try, unless imposing highly authoritative practices, they are all going to face similar issues. I think what many users want is to be put back in the cage so they don't have to see or deal with reality.

Yeah, the general public has been absolutely domesticated by centralised platforms; no doubt.
I had a friend feed back concerns about how difficult his password is to remember, and how he lost it, and couldn't get back in, etc. He said if we just fix those things, we should be right.
That's not what this place is. You're not meant to remember your password, or be able to reset it with an SMS, it's not permission to ask permission to interact with the database; it's a key.
You own the only copy. You don't get authority without responsibility.

You own the only copy. You don't get authority without responsibility.

People want the trappings but don't want to do the work to get there. They want freedom, but want it granted.

Cutting out the middle man means doing all the stuff he did.
If you want zero censorship, you need to make the user the only actor with the power to add and remove content.

Cutting out the middleman is going to be painful but if we can continue to build alongside, the technical switch itself can be largely pain-free.
