Hello, let learn few points about hypertension in pregnancy.

Gestational hypertension- it means if BP - ≥140/90 mm hg after 20 weeks of gestational age and without end organ damage or proteinuria.

Then pt should be monitored and medications are given for BP control and delivery should be done at @37 weeks gestational age.

If BP - ≥140/90 mm hg after 20 weeks of gestational age and proteinuria or end organ damage is there then it is called as preeclampsia.

Preeclampsia is divided into mild and severe preeclampsia. Mild is said if BP - ≥140/90 to <160/90 and severe is said if BP - ≥160/90.

Management will be in the next part.
