Lesson to New Users. "......I love you Bittrex..!!"
I LOVE YOU BITTREX
Regular Readers of my Blog may recall a few weeks ago I had a nightmare when I accidentally transferred 500 STEEM from my STEEM Wallet to my BITTREX Wallet and instead of putting my STEEM wallet address in I accidentally put in my BITCOIN address.
Some will recall it left me feeling utterly sick and at the time I shared with you, especially New Users, the importance of ensuring that you make sure the correct deposit/withdrawal addresses are used.
Well this morning I woke up like a child on Christmas morning to a message from Bittrex saying that they have recovered the coins and are now safely in my wallet.
There are, and I am ever so grateful.
I cannot stress enough to any New Users of Crypto Currency the IMPORTANCE of checking, double checking and double-double checking that you have put in the correct address.
As the world of Crypto Currency continues its explosive growth that has been witnessed over the last 3 months, more and more Users will open accounts not really understanding the importance of these addresses, assuming that if they make a mistake they simply can pick up the phone and speak to someone and hey presto the coins are magically returned in a few minutes.
As the market for Crypto Currency grows this will put a large burden on the likes of Bittrex to tackle problems like this and it is this therefore that I fully appreciate the support Bittrex has given in helping me out.
LESSON LEARNT FOR NEW USERS
Is there a lesson that I have learnt with this?
ABSOLUTELY there is..!!
"Don't try and do a million of things at once when you are moving Crypto Currency around and always, double-double, double-double, double-double check the correct address..!!"
Thanks again for reading.
Stephen
Everybody (not only noobs) should read this post twice!!
There are so many possible things that can go wrong.
For example if you type bittrexx with double x, the coins will be lost.
Mr. bittrexx will not send your money back.
"Everybody (not only noobs) should read this post twice!!" Thanks for the support. Stephen
I made this mistake going from SBD at steemit to steem at bittrex, luckily I realized and was aware of it right away, I opened a ticket. It's been over a week now, closer to ten days though. My ticket seems untouched. How long in days did your resolution take? Thanks!
It took a few weeks. The moment I hit the send button and as I was watching the spinning wheel I knew I had made the mistake. I searched STEEMIT Blogs to see what to do and opened up a Ticket within minutes. Bittrex have been ABSOLUTELY amazing and I had a few replies as they sorted it out. I am OVER THE MOON with their service. This is testament to a top exchange. All I can suggest is hang in there and if the ticket is still open have patience. Good luck. Stephen
It is open and Ive noted they publish that incorrect wallet issues can be two or more weeks and no guarantees, and I get that. Although I feel like software should be smart enough to figure it more like sending back to steemit does already or just reject bad xactions and if not that, at least just go ahead and convert it to the destination wallet. It bothers me they havent coded a way to deal with fixing this on one of those ways on the fly, but thats just being a lifelong career software architect lol
Thanks for responding Stephen, I enjoy your posts and lurk and vote most of them I see unless they dont apply to me.
Cheers.

That is excellent news for you and for us. You got your steem coins back and we can be sure that dealing with Bitrex is safe and that they care for their users!
Tnx for sharing the information.
Thank you and you are very welcome. I hope it helps New Users to fully understand the importance of getting it right. Stephen
I find your posts very educative for new users. I like reading them and i usually bookmark all the tools that you post/promote.
BTW: Is there any tool comparing transactions per day in crypto market? I can see it for bitcoin on https://blockchain.info/ but how about the other coins? Is there a tool for STEEM to show that?
Bittrex in general has been easy, bombproof and fun to use for me for months. However, I did make the same steem mistake. Funny though, coming BACK from bittrex to steemit is easier, just ship either one to your screen name here and it goes to the right place. Ive tested and confirmed that with sbd and steem.

That's great news. Thanks for the tips and information. It's also good to know that Bittrex has good customer service. I know people are fond of multitasking but it's probably better to take their time in moving around cryptocurrency.
"It's also good to know that Bittrex has good customer service". FAULTLESS in my mind. A HUGE SHOUT OUT to BITTREX today..!! Stephen
@stephendendal
You are right. The slightest little distraction can cause us to make a mistake.
When we are working on something important. Don't answer phones, or doors, or any such like. Focus on the work you are doing. If it is really important.
Check and double check slowly, to make sure you have correctly entered all the requirements to complete the transactions. And not just for crypto's.
All of your currency transactions. How do I know. From bad experience. lol
Thank you for reminding us.

"How do I know. From bad experience." It is how we learn. I have made millions of mistakes in my life which has helped me to make zillions of the right things..!! Stephen

Thank you for your reply and upvote. I appreciate it.

Luckily I have been VERY careful everytime I have been moving coins so that problem has never occured
I love Bittrex! I don't really understand why but it seems to be a lot less popular than some other major exchanges, but I've used pretty much all of them and Bittrex is by far my favourite. Thankfully, I've never had an issue like yours but it's nice to know their support team is just as awesome as their platform!
If you ever wanna chat crypto hit me up @jhcooper7
Steem on!
bittrex is definitely on the rise. Poloniex isnt very trustworthy currently.
hahaha nightmare with a happy ending. i recently almost posted my security key in the memo while trying to transfer steem. Glad the system noticed it ;). But the worst mistake was trusting bitfinex and leaving my whole cryptos on there last summer.
Creeeeepy experience! :)
