Blockchain Mini Interview: Alex Van

Dear friends,

Last week I started an initiative to interview different people having an active role in different applications of blockchain technologies, with a focus on the Steem platform.

As an initiator of this series, I took the liberty to be the first person to answer my questions, although I'm not having any major role, and here you can find my interview: Blockchain Mini Interview: Introduction Post

The special quest of this week is Alex Van (@alexvan). Alex is well known in the German and Romanian Steemit Communities, supporting many local initiatives. Born in Romania, he relocated to Munich where he is getting famous for the bilingual (English - German, and sometimes even Romanian) blogging about the new places he visits, and for his involvement with different cryptocurrencies.

Let's get started with the mini-interview:

What is your knowledge of blockchain?

The first contact with the notion of blockchain was around 2012. At the moment there was a little hype with bitcoin and the blockchain behind it. I studied a little and found the technology to have an open record of all transaction fascinating. No more double transactions or double records, everything can be traced and recorded. Like a worldwide register that older shops used to keep.

What are the topics you are interested in regards to blockchain?

At the moment there are two topics of interest from my side, one is the leverage of investments as it is one of the markets with the highest return rate. The second will be in the long run to see what impact will it have on my closest environment as the technology gets better every day and the applications are endless.

What is your current contribution to the overall blockchain environment?

I invest a sum I don't want to disclose to some cryptocurrencies. Also, had sponsored a miner for a university project. I'm open to investing in some projects if the plan of development is present.

Bonus question: What would you think will be one of the applications of the blockchain technology?

I see real estate as a direct beneficiary of the blockchain technology. At the moment transactions into the real estate market are very expensive, are handled by a lot of middle men and in some countries can be forged.
