3 Reasons Why Steem Is My Favorite Cryptocurrency Investment!
It's no big secret that I'm a huge fan of steem and would definitely go as far as to call it my favorite cryptocurrency. It's not just based on my personal opinion after all though, as there are a bunch of facts confirming that steem is simply superior:
Number of Transactions
It might sound crazy but steem basically performs as many transactions per day as all other cryptocurrency combined. Yeah it's true, just take a look on the below graph from blocktivity.com and count it for yourself. Steem is the unbeaten number one, a cryptocurrency that actually gets used massively by thousands of people every single day.
That being said, the steem blockchain is responsible for about 50% of all cryptocurrency transactions. So whatever some people might think about steem and its whole ecosystem, they won't be able to deny it's huge usage compared to other tokens.
Fair Distribution of Rewards
Besides the Number of transactions I like the fact that the reward pool gets split among all users of the platform in a fair way. Not just authors but as well commenters, curators, witnesses & hodlers receive their fair share of the pie.
(Yes, you've seen that correctly, simply hodling your Steem actually gets you 16.4% in yearly interest. That means that you get 16.4 Steem for every 100 tokens you're holding. That's quite an awesome number compared to anything else out there in the real world and the cryptosphere.)
Huge Future Potential - SMT's
Last but not least I want to name the huge future potential that lies ahead of steem, especially after SMT's will be introduced at the end of this year. With Appics probably being the first SMT token to launch I'm sure that hundreds of others will follow shortly after, which will lead to huge exposure of steem among the world wide web.
Further we just reached 1 Million users on the steem blockchain recently, which will most likely just skyrocket in 2018 to numbers we would have never dreamed of before.

How did you like 2017 for Steem´s growth?
In 2017 Steem started the year at 18000 Satoshis and finished it at 20000 satoshis, that means just over 11% growth in 2017. While Bitcoin in 2017 started the year at USD 1000 and closed the year at USD 13000 that means 1300% growth in a year.
Holding BTC throughout 2017 = 1300% profits
Holding Steem throughout 2017 = 11% profits
Just throwing some facts into the table!
You should compare the same values though and not mix up BTC & USD values to compare the relative growth of those tokens!
Steem actually started 2017 at roughly 0.16 USD and ended it at a price of 2.82 USD, which is a growth of more than 1800% after all. So yes, I'm pretty happy with the growth of steem in 2017 even as I just got in whenever it was trading around a Dollar already ;)
Do you realize that Steem raising its price in USD is ONLY because of Bitcoin price rising?
I do but if you take the increase of value of BTC in USD, then you have to compare it respectively with the USD value of steem. It gotta be based on the same ground.
Anyways let's take it a bit further and see how an investment of 1000 USD at the beginning of 2017 would have played out to the end of the year ;)
Beginning of 2017:
1000 USD = 1 BTC
1000 USD = 6250 Steem (@0.16 USD each)
End of 2017
1 BTC = 13,000 USD
6250 Steem = 2.82 USD * 6250 = 17,625 USD (or 1.355 BTC @ 13,000 USD)
