Doesn't have to be a gun or a knife. Any of us intelligent people can turn just about anything into a weapon. I have some pretty hefty old hard drives lying around... drop a couple of those into a sock and it'll make one killer flail.

A can of soda, some lighter fluid, and some ABS pipe makes a sort of mortar too.
