If the comments are good enough to be adding valuable content to the post as a comment, then why can't they do the same by talking about a topic in their own post
The point of this change is to have more people participate in the discussion
The reason commenters were only rewarded 1% of the total rewards last month, is either because (1) the comments weren't that good, or (2) the comments weren't seen by many people
I think the reason is curation rewards.
well you are missing the point , maybe taking things a bit out of context, if posts are getting 150 auto votes and 50 from the "real" people out of who 30 have read the posts and 20 the whole thread 10 commented , do you think that a comment would get more than 30 votes , when not even that much people have read the post , Its normal example that seems to happen ever so often.
such a post would make 200 votes 10-20 SBD and yeah 10-30 comments.
Sure bigger and better posts would increase the exposure for the comments and actually get a conversation going where people can add value and actually exchange information , sometimes the comments are 2-3 times bigger than the main post like for instance in this case :)
