Best Podcast on Cryptocurrency I Have Heard - Tim Ferriss interviews Nick Szabo, co-hosted by Naval Ravikant

in #steem7 years ago

Finally, the episode I had been waiting for. The Tim Ferriss show did an episode on cryptocurrency and got some heavy weights to join in the conversation.

I will do a quick roundup of show along with some particular points I liked, but it will only scratch the surface. There is a bounty of good info in the episode.

Who is Nick Szabo?

Well, turns out he is credited as developing the phrase and concept of smart contracts. He is also the designer of Bitgold which was kind of a precursor to bitcoin.

You can definitely see his love for smart contracts and decentralization come through in the episode. Essentially he believes Wall Street has no choice but do fully embrace blockchain technology or else New York will no longer be the financial center of the world in the coming decades.

Bitcoin is Gold

The thing that grabbed me the most in the interview is when they referenced Bitcoin as the "gold" of cryptocurrency. However, it makes complete sense. There is a finite suppy, 21 million to be exact and it is the original mainstream crypto.

If you think about physical gold - it was an original store of value used to transact, that had a finite supply in the eyes of society as it is thought of has rare.

I hold physical gold as an investment and I am for sure holding bitcoin as a long term (collector type) investment after having this realization. Especially cause I think some of the other coins will over take bitcoin just like paper money took over gold.

Ethereum and more....

They talk about Ethereum quite a bit and it seems to be a favorite, but they also acknowledge that it has more points of attack because of the same reasons that it is a better transaction coin than bitcoin.

Initial Coin Offerings (ICO's) are also discussed along with so much more!

I'm only scratching the service here and want you to check it out for yourself.

Great for the layman!

The best part about the whole thing was it's easy to understand and digest being that Tim is a newbie to crypto, so he asks questions that many of us entry level crypto fans are likely wondering too!

It's a two and a half hour episode, but worth the listen for sure!

If you're new to Crypto you must listen in to this podcast - very informative. They dive pretty deep into how Crypto works and some very interesting views on what fiat money is and a few other topics.
Resteemed - hopefully my small following takes the time and get learned :)

Nice, appreciate it. Yeah, it was a kick butt podcast - had to share it with my followers!

very much informative and helpful for newbies of crypto thank you for sharing ... :)

My pleasure. I learned so much from it!

I've been exploring the blockchain market place on my show www.poppingthebubbl.com There's quite a few shows that cover the topic. Tim Ferris is a leader for sure, but there are a LOT of quality casts out there that cover the topic in other ways. Take a listen.
