Thanks Hebro, interesting topic & insights. I'm very new here and posts like this are useful to me. Personally I've come to see two basic approaches to social media.

One approach can evolve into a virtual life that gradually encroaches on one's real life. Worrying about digital recognition (likes, followers, etc.)

The other approach is to view social media as information sharing tools. In this case, digital recognition is a by-product, not the goal. As you wrote, it's simply a matter of following the Golden Rule. Treat others the way you would like to be treated: "say thank you, vote, upvote, quote, follow alot and resteem."

When like-minded folks simply do that, it makes for a much nicer digital experience ;-)
