dang. one thing about china is that most of their content is only circulated within china. it's also how korean internet works. it's more like intranet but i'd like to see bitcoin and blockchain break some of that :)

It is still intranet infrastructure even until today. The major concern is, central government having trouble to control the content going in and out. And therefore, the best way to provide internet to the country is, by using a backbone to limit the entire internet behind their firewall, and structure the entire country to become an intranet.
