Should We Convert All SBD to Steem?

Should We Keep Only Steem

I just noticed that between Steem and Steem Dollar, Steem is the only coin moving up while SBD idles by. Because of this, it is not profitable to convert Steem dollar to Steem at the current price of Steem.

I want to think that it is better to store all the SBD earned here into Steem on a regular basis unless you want to power it up. This is because over time, Steem may become even more expensive than Steem Dollar.

What do you all think?

Sort:

SBD is designed to only be worth around 1USD but at the moment it's value is inflated at around 1.8 USD the last time I looked. Because of this when you recieve a reward it is split just between SBD and steem power. When the value drops back down to it's intended value of 1USD you will get a split 50/50 payout of SBD and steem as well as steem power.
As for wether you want to keep SBD it's a personal choice, i'm saving it up to cash out without having my steempower affected. If the price of it stays high it means I get more of a reward if I sell the SBD direct rather than cashing it in for steem.

I didnt get the logic. Does SBD affect your your steem power? Does moving SBD to steem first affect ur earning power in steemit?

I read something that SBD is a way of stablising the blockchain by having a token that is constant but can't remember why now. If you convert your SBD to steem then that can be powered up to increase your steem power but in itself it doesn't affect it when kept as SBD.

So if I convert sbd to steem without powering up to steem power is there any benefit it confers?

liquid steem is, as I understand it doing nothing. SBD gains interest as it sits there, steempower increases your vote and curation here, liquid steem gains you nothing.

I agree with you. This is inevitable.

Steem Backed Dollar is simply Steem that is exactly a US Dollar's worth. As Steem Price goes up, the "value" of SBD will definitely go down. So really there isnt any difference so to say.

Maybe perhaps there will be difference due to arbitrage. but for me, it doesnt really matter which token i hold.

Thanks for your explanation but if you go into the real exchange to change them, you may notice the difference

Yes.. that's what i meant.. Because there is a sort of balancing period within the steem blockchain. so it would react as fast as the market does.
