RE: Do you need a niche? - Thoughts on "making it" on Steem

in #steem6 years ago

Alot of blogging is fairly niche stuff. Some niches are wider and have more splinters or connections off of them. I am still trying to feel out the whole Steemit environment. I have a youtube that is a fairly small niche (ios Music production apps) but I have not really been focusing on that here as I think at least initially on Steemit you have to focus on stuff with a wider appeal (like music/creativity in general). There is not the user base yet to have enough people to make very specific niche groups like you get on Reddit/Facebook. Discord seems to serve that niche group thing fairly well but even so there is alot more going on with more general discord channels than the niche ones. It seems like once you have developed a following/higher rep you can post some more niche subject matter and still get more upvotes than you would expect for something so niche

I guess you are correct in both counts... about discord and about blogging... but on here, at least now, it does not seem to matter too much... specially at the beginning.

I think its also liberating to just write about whatever, share pictures, share songs... its almost as if you dance as if no one is watching, except that they will... but who cares anyways.
