I doubt spambots are registered as alexa users. Alexa base their rankings on a sample of users that have signed up to share their browsing habits with them. Obviously this is like opinion polling and will have a margin of error, but it is a pretty good guide. It doesn't surprise me that steemit.com has more visitors than the bitcoin website.
that's good to know... i hadn't really looked into it but was wondering how much all the follow for follow spam was influencing the rating...
There are flaws with Alexa's methodology, but one thing that counts in its favor is that it's very unlikely to count spambots.
