RE: Why The Successful Launch of Falcon Heavy Is Also Good For Crypto Currencies

in #steem6 years ago

The Falcon launch was very exciting and it certainly represents a move forward for humankind, as can a system like steemit. Still a relative newbie to steemit and cryptocurrency but I what I would like to see with steemit is a way to buy it without having to go through other cryptocurrencies. Do you know if that is in the works?

Sort:

That is certainly an important functionality and I think it will be added per country by different people/groups. I myself am looking to build such a gateway for Steem<->Euro. But initially this will only be available to my own country, The Netherlands, and later on each country that has euros. Due to the banking logistics

Alas ... I am Canadian and we are a little more conservative. But the looksee I have taken at crypto ... I have a lot of confidence with steem because it is attached to steemit, but you have to go through other cryptocurrencies to gain entrance. Because of the lack of functioning entity attached to these other currencies ... I have less confidence in them long term. Hopefully steem will develop a more direct route in soon ... love your country by the way:)

Sure are a lot of hoops to jump through. However if you succeed now you are already ahead of the game.

The Netherlands sure is a small country of rich history and beauty. I am curious about the Canadian nature. Hiking must be amazing. I hope to visit after exploring Europe and Asia. Also, I believe we send you a bunch of tulips every year for taking in our queen or something similar during the 2nd world war.

I believe it was Canadian forces that were the ones to liberate the Netherlands from Germany in WWII ... that is why get the tulips. They get planted at Parliament Hill. We may have also taken in the Queen. Maybe it was for giving her back ... lol. I would have to research to find out. Canada has great hiking yes and some great cities too. I live in Vancouver. It is very beautiful:)

please share when you do!! I

Now that Steem is on Binance, this exchange (through Coinbase/Gdax) is probably the quickest and most efficient way to buy Steem (as far as I know, being located in America). You can transfer money into Coinbase for free but it will take about a week to process. Or you can do a direct wire transfer from your bank, for about 35$ (25$ bank fee and 10$ Coinbase fee) which happens in less than one business day.

You can then free transfer the USD (fiat) into Gdax, and buy either Bitcoin or Etheruem. First check the ETC/USD and BTC/USD rates on Gdax, and the Steem/ETC and Steem/BTC rates on Binance (it will show you the respective rate for Steem in USD too).

After determining which of the two has the best rate overall into Steem, buy that coin on Gdax (using the fiat transferred as described in the first paragraph) and transfer onto Binance. BE SURE to select the right coin Deposit Address on Binanace, especially with Ethereum because those transactions cannot be undone. Bitcoin maybe more forgiving. I’ve made this mistake trying to send BTC to a BNB address but was able to recover it.

Once you’re transition is complete (Etheruem should generally be quicker than Bitcoin) you can use the coins you transferred in to Binance to buy Steem.

This is the best part. Once you’ve bought your Steem, go to withdraw funds. Here you simply type in your steemit account login name, that’s your Steemit wallet! No need to add a memo. Use your authenticator password if you have one, and you’ll then be sent an email with a link to confirm. The Steem should be in your Steemit account within mins if not less!

Being Canadian ... coinbase isn't much use. But thank you for the tips:)

I quickly found these two links. They note Coinbase as a viable option for acquiring BTC & ETH. Hope this helps.

The banks here are very reluctant to aid in bitcoin purchases. It is becoming quite the endeavour on my end,
