Question: Why not just Upvote Literally Every Comment?

in #steem8 years ago

So I'm somewhat new to the site, and I want to talk about this question to help other new people, as well as myself.

Is there any reason not to just upvote every comment? From what I understand, upvoting costs nothing, and yet it helps other people make money?

All that I can think is that perhaps this could lead to deflation? Or perhaps lowering the standards of how much effort goes into comments? However, it seems like we would all make a lot of money.

Are there any more experienced users here who could provide some insight?

Thanks for any help, and lets all upvote each other while we are at it!

Nice, did it. That's a smart idea you've got there - and I definitely support the idea of us all helping each other out.

I do literaly upvote as much as i can lul, also shamless selfplug, i post nice airdrops ;D

Have you noticed any downside to doing that? I haven't so far.

Well I don´t understand this aswell .. im as much upvoting as I can tho ..

Do you talk upvote your own comment?

Well, that is another question I have. In this case, I was asking about whether it makes sense to upvote literally every comment you see so that we all make more money. But I also am not sure if it might be smart to upvote our own comments. Would it make sense to upvote ourselves? Is there any negative to that?

I upvote my own contents for the contribution I made on the platform but never upvote my own comments. The people who upvote their own comments are for increasing the reputation and make more money for themselves.

You upvote only if the answer or the comment provide real value to the context of the post.

Fair enough, and I appreciate that point of view. I also do feel, like I mentioned above, that I don't want to be totally blind to the value of whatever I upvote, because that would not reward people who put in more effort more than those who just comment "Good article bro". So for the sake of the site I do believe in being at least a little selective.

You have to keep an eye on your voting power, it decreases by 2% for every upvote and refills by 20% every day so it doesn't pay to spam upvotes. You get a lot more and help the posts your upvoting a lot more if you do it with high voting power.
